bjohnson65 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Ill try to post some PICS, but in the mean time here is what happened .. I purchased a box of Siglo VI's from my usual source, good box, good codes, all seemed as before .. as it should be .. when I opened the sealed box, the aroma was wonderful as usual. However, the cigars were almost a MADURO in color .. I have NEVER seen a Siglo that dark before .. they all looked the same as far as color goes, the construction was poor (veiny, stems in the end), however the caps were triple, the sizes were good, the wrappers looked good .. Im very puzzled !!!! Could it be that that counterfiters have gotten THAT good ?? and have infiltrated my source ??. your thoughts are welcome ..
Miami101 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 \ That not a big deal I have seen lot's releases from Cuban with lighter, and sometimes darker shades. For example Monte 2 box can go both way...
habanohal Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 also been seeing alot of darker wrtappers. Also, the veiny wrappers are more often than not now. I have 3 boxes of Trinidad ELs that look like they were wrapped in oak leaves
El Presidente Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I wouldn't concern myself too much. True, there are very Maduro/Oscuro coloured Cohiba outside of the Cohiba Maduro 5 line. Post some photo's for us if you are still concerned.
bjohnson65 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 Thanks for the info ... camera is on the fritz, but these babies are DARK... Codes, wrappers, box, triple cap, .. all looked good. maybe they are green/young Ill give em a smoke, see what its like .. Ill report back.. thx again
Don Candido Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I have some very dark / black Robustos. I am not sure I have any Siglo's that way. It sounds legit otherwise. Smoke one. Let your palate be the final judge.
Mel Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Not to cause more alarm but I have found Cohiba to have the most consistant wrapper color of all the marcas. Boli, RA and Punch have wrappers all over the place so I rarely use that as a judge on them but Cohiba is a different matter.

Post some photos when you get a chance. I'm no expert but I'd like to see what the folks here think.
SethG Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I recently received a box of Sig VI from my usual source that was suspect, PM me and we can get together on details/sources and see if they line up.
