Van55
Pre-light: Veiny, slightly mottled darkish wrapper. No hard or soft spots. Muted tobacco aroma. Draw seemed just a bit north (tighter) than ideal. No remarkable unlit flavors. First 1/3: First impression was that this was going to be a stellar experience. Great tobacco flavors. Perfect through the nose. Yeah, peppers, what did you expect? Great balance. Definitely not past its prime in strength. Second 1/3: Velvet glove on the palate with a pin cushion through the nose. Loved it. No complex nuanes that I could discern. Resisted the temptation to smoke it fast, like a handful of Reese's Pieces. Ash was dark charcoal and flaky. Final 1/3: You have to love a 9 or 10 year old cigar that hasn't become pussified over time. Cedar and pepper were constant from start to finish. Huge volume of very satisfying Cuban cigar taste. Nice buzz. Conclusion: Four smoke rings. Only a relative lack of nuance, complexity and variability kept it from five.
El Presidente
I respect a review which includes the term "Pussified" :-D I have had three TEB Sep 07 Connie 3's in the last 24 hours. Rich, vibrant, dangerous. Still one of the "greats"
