Punch Joe Posted September 24, 2008 Share Posted September 24, 2008 The annual awarding of the European Cigar-Cult Journal “Cigar Trophies” for 2008 was held during the 30th Inter-Tabac trade show in Dortmund, Germany last Sunday, recognizing the top cigars in 12 categories as selected by its panel of experts: :-) :-) :-) Category: “Best Brand” from each of four countries of origin: From Cuba: Trinidad From the Dominican Republic: Winston Churchill From Honduras: Flor de Copan From Nicaragua: La Meridiana Celebracion 10 Anos Category: “Best Cigar” (an individual size) from each of four countries of origin: From Cuba: Cohiba Esplendidos (7 inches by 47 ring). From the Dominican Republic: Fuente Fuente Opus X Perfecxion X (6 1/4 x 48). From Honduras: Flor de Selva Tempo (5 x 54). From Nicaragua: Padron 1964 Anniversary Series Imperial (6 x 54). Category: “Best Value” brands, considering price and performance from each of four countries of origin: From Costa Rica: Mythos Solitude. From the Dominican Republic: Cuesta-Rey. From Honduras: Peterson. From Nicaragua: Casa de Torres. The “Lifetime Achievement Award” was presented to Jose Orlando Padron, founder of the Padron line. This was the eighth presentation of the Cigar Trophies, widely considered to be the most prestigious individual award for cigars. It’s worth noting that the Tabacalera A.
