anacostiakat Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Picked this up on a whim at the local costco. This I like! Mouthful of berries and fruit. A chocolate finish and smooth as silk. I think the price was something around fourteen bucks USD. Nice and I will be loading up on some more next time.

I was able to find it on sale at Wine Library for around 10-12 a month back. Not sure if its still that cheap, but worth it for anything under 20 IMO.
Ken Gargett Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 lehmann is a seriously good maker at all levels - barossa specialist, if you want something up market that is a cracker, try their stonewell. also a stunning eden valley reserve riesling. great story behind the brand - peter lehmann one of the most famous of all aussie winemakers and without him, barossa would be nowhere near what it is today. years ago when dalgety's sold saltram's the seagram (might have that mixed about - off top of head), and the beancounters announced they were cancelling all the grower's contracts, lehmann, the winemaker at the time, lehmann dug his heels in and left to start his own company and honoured all the contracts, on a handshake. i believe he still works on a handshake. terrific old bloke. i think that they have won international winemaker of the year in the UK twice.
