Acceptance449 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Hi everyone. My name is Ryan, and I smoke habanos. Ooo wrong meeting.. Just wanted to drop by with a little information about myself for everyone as I am new to this board and looking forward to getting to know y'all. I managed a cigar shop for years before I switched over to managing a Starbucks at Barnes and Noble. After Hurricane Katrina blew us apart, I went back to my trade of carpentry since we were in dire need of skilled labor for acceptable prices. I'm trying to get back into school approaching the age of 30 since I took time off to let my wife finish her nursing degree while I raised the kids (2 boys) and paid the bills. Anyhoo, I've been smoking cigars since '95 and was introduced to the island 90 miles off our shore by an old high school girlfriend's father. My first Cuban cigar was a Bolivar Belicosos Finos SLB...I think he secretly was trying to kill me for dating his daughter...but I digress! I shall ramble no more except to re-affirm that I look forward to meeting y'all. Wish my family and I luck in regards to this Gustav character that is meandering around by Cuba currently....

And be sure to check out the 'Alcoholics Not So Anonymous' section of the boards when you get a chance...that would be the correct meeting

El Presidente Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Welcome aboard Ryan and thankyoi for a great into
kilroy Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Welcome Ryan, I lived in the BR/NO area for 30 years. After Katrina hit I sat on the top of the levee at Pontchatrain with binoculars hoping to get a glimpse of my empty beer kegs that floated away with everything else I owned. The only good part of that storm was that after it ran everyone off that city was the safest it had been in 200 years! Good luck with Gustave and welcome to FoH! :-D
csgrip Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Welcome - From what the weather folks are saying, it sounds like you may need to skiddaddle real soon. :-(
Acceptance449 Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 I did forget to mention my favorites didn't I. Truth be told, I don't really have a favorite per se. I do love the Cohiba Robusto, BBF, PSD4, Monte2 & 4, RyJ Churchill....your standard staples. Though I haven't met a bad cuban cigar....except that Guantanamera that one time, but we won't even go there... Thankfully, we are out of the way of the uninvited visitor. However, I do suppose that when you are as large as monsieur Gustav is, anywhere is generally fair game for your own invitation...I do not approve of his choice, but I do not think he takes my concerns into his whimsical motions of movement. Good to see another person from New Orleans =) We shall have to get together at Don Juan's or Dos Jefes when we get back into town - that is if they still exist. Que Sera, Sera.
Taino Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Welcome Ryan, hope you do well with todays "breeze"

Glad to see that y'all came though pretty much unscathed! And welcome to the forum, BTW!
Punch Joe Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 welcome Ryan to the best forum on earth. Regards from Havana
