chuck1rar Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Have been looking around for a wine cooler to act as my summer humidor and found the only supplier of wine coolers really in Japan is Haier from China. They stock only two models here thru Costco and after sending them an email trying to find out if any are thermoelectric got an answer コストコ品番 535661 HAIER 51本 JQ-F160A 506x595x1280 58kg 160L COOLING METHOD FAN コストコ品番 522408 HAIER 106本 JQ-332A 600X610X1850 90kg COOLING METHOD AIR COOLING So am hoping someone knows or might be able to tell me what are the physical difference from looking at a compressor and thermo cooler as am sure am not going to be able to go to the shop and pull it apart and have little faith that if I did would know what I am looking at.. So any guesses which of the above ones would be thermoelectric?? Ahh was thinking the page was encoded in unicode but maybe not.. Anyway the above basically says Haier 51 bottle JQ-F160A 160l Cooling method Fan Haier 106 bottle JQ-332A Cooling method Air Cooling The US site states which ones are thermo electric but these models are only released in East Asia and no real specifications are given on their site.
asc Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Did a google search for both models... Found pages for both that mention automatic defrosting...which while I'm not ENTIRELY sure...I would believe both would be compressor driven.

I would agree with this. Also, if it mentions anything about refrigerant or coolant, it's a compressor driven unit.
