I was in Boston for a conference, last night I had the privilege of meeting up with a bunch of cigar friends, including several from FOH. We met up at Churchill's, a great place that is spacious and friendly and full of good cheer.

It was a particular treat to meet up with Colt45, who I met on FOH. We have exchanged email and some cigars and he was not a regular with this Boston group, and often has to work nights. Ross I really appreciate you managing to get off from work to join us.

This Boston group is very tight, accustomed to getting together frequently, and they really know how to treat a guest. Everyone was generous with their cigars, people kept bringing me drinks and someone cleared the tab for the whole group without telling anyone when he headed out. I didn’t get to smoke any of the cigars I brought, I was given a Partagas Pyramid EL, RA Belicoso, Monte Especial #1 (smoked those three, all were great), RA 898, Boli Coronas Extra, Boli Gold Medal, SLR Double Corona, LGC Tainos, and a thin gauge ERDM which I think is a Panatelas Largas. Almost all of these cigars came with age. (I THINK that is everything, I am like a kid trying to remember all of his Christmas presents).

Churchill’s is an outstanding place, it is huge, comfortable, well ventilated, and had great service. And with the big window facing the street, right in the middle of Party Central for Boston, we got to see all sorts of lovely ladies walking by strutting their stuff (OK, at least those of us smart enough to pick a seat in the right place).

OK, on to the pictures. (I made sure to bring my camera since BostonBill is famous for not having a digital camera).

BostonBill and Polo enjoying some cigars on the couch. Everybody moved the furniture around a lot, made the circle bigger or smaller as people arrived and left, and moved around, I think I got to talk to everyone.

MadAl lived up to his reputation as a madman. He was great fun, we learned that he used to be a stand up comic, damn I wish I had known that when he was there, would have at least asked him to tell a joke.

Although still known here as Wolfe Tone, Jack recently decided on another Board to show his true colors and come out as Jack Hussein O’Halloran. Since that time he has been behaving more and more suspiciously. He tried to avoid letting me take his picture but to no avail. Jack you can be sure that the Feds are on your trail now.

Joe Conaughton and Fisher VP joined in the fun as well, it seemed that every time someone walked into Churchill’s, Steve welcomed them in.

Kar is another guy who joined in the fun, he needs to get posting more though.

Danm528 (you know I always thought his handle was Damn528, sorry) having a drink, Colt45 on the phone, I think with Tampa1257.

Yes Dan is not only a drinker, he also enjoys his cigars. Dan generously broke the seal on his box of Boli Gold Medals and gave one out to everyone who was around.

Rockridge (left) and Intermezzo. Mark won the prize for coming from the greatest distance (other than me) and Rockridge was gracious enough not to take offense when I remembered his name as Abdul (it is Chuck), I SWEAR I heard someone say Abdul, maybe it was that damned Hussein fella.

I brought along some of the 1944 Eden cigars (Clear Havanas made in Tampa, from Cuban tobacco), Steve seemed to really enjoy that cigar, he nubbed that thing beyond belief. Several other guys who smoked one commented that it was unlike anything they had ever smoked. It is fun to have something unusual like this to pass around.

Hussein was good enough to get a picture of me enjoying a 98 or 99 Monte Especial #1, one of my all time favorite cigars.

OK and here are some group pictures:

Hussein is blocking out Colt45 here, yet another subversive act, must have been because he was on the phone with his stock broker all evening, yelling “BUY BUY BUY”, does he know something the rest of us don’t?

This time Hussein is blocking out MadAl, one time could be a coincidence, I sense a conspiracy here.

But here is a shot with Al more visible.

Well I got back to my room late, and had to get up early. I was tired but it was well worth it. I have done lots of traveling and meeting up with friends from the cigar world, and have always been well treated, but to get this many guys out on a Thursday night just blew me away. If you are traveling to Boston, or anywhere in the vicinity, you MUST get together with this crew. They have built something great, a really tight group of guys from all walks of life who are generous and close and who have figured out This Thing of ours. I can’t wait to come back at a time when I can spend a few days out and about with these folks.

First off, good to see you made it home safe and sound :-)

It was a great pleasure to meet PT and the Boston area crew, and I hope I'm able to get together

with them again in the future.

I need to thank everyone for the generosity of their friendship, as well as the great cigars.

There really isn't anything better that meeting new friends or catching up with old ones over a drink and a cigar.

Well done gentlemen :ok:

» Bill, it was a treat to get to see you up here in the great white North. Meeting Ross was another pleasure. I hope you will continue to get together with us in the future.

Catching up with Tampa on the phone is always nice, too. I hope you make it in person one of these days, Chuck.

Anyway, I'll see you fellas down there when I flee the snow in a few months.

Looks like a great time!

Boston's a scant three hours away. Hope to see some of you sometime. Probably after a wedding, a move and a trip I owe to Delaware though. :-)

What great pics! Looks like you guys had a great time.

And damn, I guess I was all wrong in thinking Colt45 was really Rob's cyber-alter ego:lookaround:

Hi Prpfessor Twain,

Thanks for the pics. . Looks like you guys

had a great time. From what I know , after 38 years of

smoking cigars, When you meet , for the frist time, men or women who smoke cigars and have the same passion,it's like you've

known everybody for years. That's what it's all about.

Just keep having fun.:waving:

THANKS, I GUESS!

Hey I figured that Colt had to be much older due to the wisdom he shows in his cigar reviews.

It is always great to get to meet people in person and to smoke cigars with them.
