KWG116 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Hey Arrow, I bought a box of PL Panatelas, just like you I love the PLPC. I was buying them for a cheap smoke and to fill up some humidor space. And just like you, I was amazed how great they were. I love smoking them, and after they sit in the humidor a little while they get better. I was going to buy a cab of PLPC, but I may wait and the buy Montecarlos instead. I never thought I would say that, but the Panatelas were awesome. I hope every cigar in your box is as good or better than your first one. Enjoy

PL's are just such a satisfying smoke for me. See you around!
KWG116 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Hey Arrow, I picked them up from Rob. Rob and Lisa sent a great box ( along with RGPE's). I smoked about half the box and no construction issues. I think my box had over a year age on them when I received them. I just looked and Rob has them in stock for $69.55. I love ordering from them because I always feel like they care about their customers. Knock on wood, I have never had a bad box from Rob. No construction issues and the cigars are always in fantastic shape. I just ordered Mag 46's the other day and I can not wait to get them. I am still so tempted to get a cab of PLPC's. I bought one about two years ago and I have two left that I have been saving. I couldnt stop smoking them. I hear that they are even better with age. Thank you
Tampa1257 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Thin ring cigars can provide a mouthfull of flavorfull smoke. I have been saying this for years, but buy and try thin ring Habanos and enjoy the true experience! The PL Monte Carlos are a great cigar!
El Presidente Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Great review Arrow and a great reminder of how good these can be. They are subjest to underfilling so that needs to be checked. Outside of that they are remarkably consistent in terms of flavour.
Wiley Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks for the review, man! I think you've convinced me to get a box of these. If I had to pick a cigar as my "favorite" I think it would be the PLPC, so it's about time I try something else from this marca.
dizedean Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks for the post. Are these handmade or machine made?
Arrow111 Posted June 12, 2008 Author Posted June 12, 2008 » Thanks for the post. » Are these handmade or machine made? im not sure if these are machine bundled and hand finished as the PL pannies are, i hear they're hand made (unverified).
bassman Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 First rule for thin smokes. Don't smoke them fast or they will burn to hot & ruin the flavor.
Arrow111 Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 POR LARRANAGA MONTECARLOS '07 I was looking to add some size variation to my habanos collection and since I think the world of PLPC's, I decided to blindly pick up a box of these. Upon arrival, I was surprised to see how thin a 35 ring guage actually is. They were light brown and really soft (overhumidified), against my better judgement I went ahead and fired one up without further conditioning. To my surprise, my senses were immediately tickled with flavors epitomized by the PL marca! Cinnamon, Cocoa, Nutmeg.. I was expecting paper thin smoke and possible draw issues from such a thin cigar. Instead, I was rewarded with huge mouthfuls of creamy smoke with each long and gentle draw. Expecting a quick 40 minute smoke, I ended up puffing on this gem for an hour and a half - enjoyed every minute of it too! This cigar was such a treat and I have no doubts the PLMC will be in a class of it's own with even just a few more years on it. Rating: a very conservative 89/100
