Rogers72 Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 It seems as though I have heard very few positive remarks about this cigar. Having recently fallen head over heels for the Reyes, I want to love this cigar as I generally prefer the size of the RE. However, I can't even bring myself to buy just one to try after some remarks I've heard here and other places. Is the current stock still as disappointing as it has been in the past or are the examples from the past few years coming around any? I would love a current review or two if anyone has any sitting around:-D
adamg Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I absolutely love the Reyes and Coloniales, but the RE is a real disappointment. It's not a bad cigar by any means, but bearing in mind the cost and the gorgeous flavor of its cousins, the RE doesn't warrant the money. It is just too bland!!!!! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
kyee Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I have always loved every cigar in the Trinidad lineup, including the Robusto Extra. If you like the Reyes, no reason for you not to try the RE.

It is a conundrum. . .
CDNJ Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I agree with some of the earlier comments. I have about 20 left from 2 boxes of 06, and the 4 that I have smoked have been uneventful in the flavour department. I have them on hiatus for a few years and will try again.
Tampa1257 Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Unfortunately, as I love the Trinidad Marca, the RE has done nothing but disappoint. The Reyes is a fantastic tasting cigar, the Fundadore a Classic and the Coloniales a very nice cigar. I have sampled the Robusto Extra almost a dozen opportunities with all kinds of age and have yet to smoke one that has done a think for me. I know several people that are letting them sleep for the long nap, maybe, just maybe they will turn around, maybe, but I personally would not spend the money on them.:-|

I have smoked one not long ago, maybe a month or so, and it was amazing. I can't recall how these were when smoked young....but damn was the last one good. I say buy a box and try them. If you don't really like them, hide them in the back of your humi for a few years and you may be pleasantly surprised.
