Cohiba Lancero POA ABR 07

The tunes of Sade go through my mind when I take in the physical beauty and elegance of this cigar….. “Smooth Operator” Not classically stunning as the wrapper is rather light in shade with no over endowment of oils yet lLong, sleek, purposeful construction. In a world of pretty women, this was a statuesque beauty with legs rising to the heavens. The aroma at cold of this particular cigar is perfect mix of hay/honey/chicken droppings. I traversed its length feeling for irregularities but there were none. Clipped the cap and the draw confirmed my suspicions….the perfect drawing Lancero. Simple clean tobacco on the tongue.

Gently torched the foot and the Lancero came easily to life. This is a light medium bodied opening but rich in its tapestry of flavours. Clove, quality tobacco, sweet cinnamon/orange peel spice, coffee. Slow, long draws roll over your tongue in waves. Good volume/weight to the cigar and the result is a lush/velvet feel on the palate.

Leaving the first third and the cigar picks up strength with an accompanying increase in body (lesson here for stablemate Esplendido). I need to commence the Friday BBQ now and it is with some regret that I take some attention away from the Lancero. I am thoroughly enjoying this cigar.

I have accompanied the cigar with a bottle of Hollick cab Sav. Good match but I prefer Jammy Shiraz with cigars. The intensity of the cigar really is stating to come home past the first half. It is Medium full and choc full of everything which makes Cohiba “Great” when “On”. Sweet spices, orange peel hold the outer periphery, Coffee, cream, charred wood the heart. Combined is simply puro perfection.

I nubbed this cigar and it reminded me how good Lancero can be. I have had some disappointing ones in the immediate years pre 06 but this one has confirmed to me that they are back on and in style. I have 24 left from this box if anyone wants to purchase singles.

Cohiba Lancero CLE JUN 01

Gifted from a friend here

Wrapper was cardboard box colored(light in shade), pigtail cap, no veins, matte feel/look and excellent construction, very uniform looking

Ash was a White log but didnt last long on the cigar, only about an 1" then it fell off every time, burn rate was slow and the draw was a typical Cuban draw, some resistance

I had a bias coming into this testing as never been attracted to the ring size and length, but I put that to the side as I knew this cigar would be special

Pre draw was grass and citris

Initial puff was mild and grassy

Flavors included grass, Lemon Meringue, floral, orange peel, vanilla

Picks up steam in the 2/3 as far as flavor goes

Smooth & Sensual.....Not a Wham, Bam, Thank You Maam kind of cigar....more like a long weekend in the Florida Keys type...hope that makes sense

Smoke time was 127 mins

Didnt notice a lot of complexity in the last 1/3

I really was impressed by the multitude of flavors, very nice combinations all mixed together

Although one of the best tasting cigars I have had, I will not buy these as I dont care for the length/ring.....I know, I am weird but honest
