Mel Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Which would you rather have? I hear so much about cigars with potential and it sounds like excuses to me sometimes. I do hate to buy a box of cigars and have to wait forever to smoke them. I am not the most patient man and need a little instant gratification at times. If I bought some cigars for early consumption what would you experts recomend?
Colt45 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 » Which would you rather have? I'd love to be able to smoke cigars that were balanced and at or near their flavor peak soon after release - as long as they maintained all or most of their flavor over the course of a year or three. » If I bought some cigars for early consumption what would you experts recomend? I'm no expert, but I think it's a tough call, Mel Even cigars that I've enjoyed (to a point) young, more often than not show signs of youth and a need to mature. Having said that, I think very generally I'd look toward Bolivar.
asc Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Seems like RASS are smoking good right away. Been my experience at least.
smokum Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Just go for the best of both worlds and pick up some aged stock...there is a premium but it may be worth your while.
Colt45 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Mel, just to show you what a sport I am, send me all your foul, stinking, need-to-age-forever Havanas (don't skimp on the reservas or customs). In return I shall send you a case - nay - two cases of Garcia y Vega Candelas. They come pre-punched and are ready to smoke now. No need to thank me.

First time ever I think. I will pass on the offer or yours Colt as I can not accept such a kindness. Since you mention it some of the custom cigars are great fresh. I agree about the RASS and remember some of the old timers saying that RASS could not be smoked for years. I am glad things have changed.
Colt45 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 » Can I get in on this deal? Austin, I would have certainly cut you in, but it looks like the deal is off. Maybe if we sweeten the pot with some tiparillos?
El Presidente Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Siglo I, Cohiba Robusto and Siglo IV. Actually I will add Trinidad Reyes and Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3 They need to be great boxes but you can enjoy them at any time of thier development.

Evo03 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Punch RS12 and PLPC have been pretty good with less than a year on them
SmokinAl Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 IMHO either the Partagas D4 or P2. I've never had a bad one of either. I know I'm smoking them too young, but to my taste they're good enough to burn now.
Wiley Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I prefer something that's good now, and great later, like the PLPC.
