How long before we see 'the git' post a VR cigar video on You Tube??

great review Prez - tough work I'm sure...

Thanks a mill Rob. That sweet spice cake could very well be my syrup and pancakes I was tasting in the Maestros.

Do you have any of the 05 boxes available?

I love the famosos. They are simply divine with some age on them. If you have tried a well aged one, you will know they are almost a waste to smoke young. (Note to self - Yet I am sure this is true of the RASS but can I let one age: Answer is no!)

Hey thats actually a pretty cool idea...Prez why dont you have one of your reviews filmed and put on Youtube. Don't worry about the hairrcut or bad attire. We can deal with that.;-)

The last experience I had with the Famosos was a year ago. I smoked a 06 that was way too tannic, I had to put it down after the 2/3. It felt like I was smoking ammonia. Haven't tried them since.

These were one of my favorites back when they were released. The main flavour that comes to my mind is the amazing chocolate profile.

GREAT review!

Only VR I've had was a Classico from 2000. That was a very smooth smoke, developed flavor, mild in strength. A very enjoyable smoke.

This thread made me fire up the last of a batch of singles I'd had for a couple of years - I believe from '05.

Charred wood, roasted walnuts, some dark stewed fruit. Still quite a bit of tannic edge. A slightly loose

draw did not take away from flavor, but kept the mouthfeel just short of decadent.

The legs to go for some years, and needs it! In my opinion, when fully matured, these will be stellar.

Thanks Ross. Looks like these are on the list. All the core flavors that seem to be apparent in this cigar are ones I love. Thanks for the follow up!

Nice review Prez! I've recently been adding some VR's to the humi, having ignored them for years. Nicely constructed cigars and great favor. Can't believe more people aren't raving these up. Quality and price make them a great go to brand, even the RE's aren't to badly priced. :-D

Vegas Robaina Famoso May 07

Actually I smoked two Famoso...one from 05 yesterday afternoon and one from 07 today prior lunch (pictured).

Visually almost identical. Colorado wrapper, good construction and an aroma of cocoa/tobacco and the rodeo.

Draw was perfect on both.

The 05 was the better of the cigars. Medium bodied with a true sweet spice and cake profile blended with plenty of quality coffee. The aroma was truly perfumed in that french patisserie way. The memories took me back to the better Famoso's of 98.

The 07 was fuller at this time and showed enough of the integral spice/coffee/cake to provide a direct lineage to the 05. It just needs time to round out some corners.

Both were remarkably consistent throughout in terms of flavour. No noticeable increase in strength along its length. Well behaved, purposefull and delivering true Vegas Robaina flavours.

I was impressed with both but the 05 had it over the 07 in terms of developed flavour characters. Give the 07 time and it will end up the same way and may even surpass the 05.
