strayvector Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Here we go. I just love this time of the year. Baseball playoffs starting, NFL is full tilt, college football going, and NCAA basketball around the corner. Not to mention, the heat in Arizona finally easing up. My favorite team the Padres are finally in the playoffs, but unfortunately is the smallest snowball in hell. Oh well, at least they'll be playing 3 more games than the damn Dodgers.

It would be a small miracle if the Padres were to even win a game. If Peavy does not win, then I think we are looking at a sweep.
wasch_24 Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 This is part of the reason I love the fall in North America.

But at least it ain't the Dodgers or Giants :-D
Colt45 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 The Red Sox just got their heads handed to them. Thankfully, I was unable to watch. On to game two!
cf2112 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 You Padre fans are right the Cards are gonna win this series and the next and the World Series too.:-D Only 10 more wins baby

Peavy pitched last night with broken ribs, out for the rest of the year...Maybe Eaton can do something. Here's to next year.
harwellplant Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 i was giving a presentation last night and missed the game - did the red sox look that bad, or the white sox that good?
Ben Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 The ChiSox were mega. I've not seen offence like that from them in a long time. Boston were just hamstrung by good pitching and defense. Ortiz & Ramirez were effectively neutralised. It was great to watch Had a great night of watching sport. 1. Aussies spank World XI 2. Cardinals handily beat Padres 3. ChiSox spank BoSox Along with a dozen beers a Trini Robusto and later a R&J Churchill.
El Presidente Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 So Ben....I bet you are very productive at work today
Ben Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I'm a touch under the weather mate. Just a touch mind :-D

Sorry couldn't help myself. I'm really a Royals fan and have not been able to cheer for them since 1985:-( and the way it looks could be another 20 years. but since I'm from Missouri so I'll route for the Cards.
strayvector Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 Update with last night's games: White Sox 2 BoSox 0 Yanks 1 Angels 1 Cards 1 Padres 0 Stros 1 Braves 0 The Astros look to be this year's Johnson-Schilling school of how to win the World Series, but just that little bit better. Pettite-Rocket-Oswalt? Wow. You know that Pettite and Rocket will pitch at least 4 out of 7 games if needed. I don't think there is a team in the playoffs that can beat these 3 pitchers 4 times in a series of 7 games.
harwellplant Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 @*()&$R)* BRAVES! at least our rooks are ensuring us of future titles. (hopefully).
ironman Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Well my Red Sox are not looking steller at this point :-(
idesign Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 » Well my Red Sox are not looking steller at this point :-( Sorry to hear that Ironman, but on the flipside, my ChiSox are looking fantastic!
strayvector Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 » Well my Red Sox are not looking steller at this point :-( That's putting it mildly. Too bad too, I'm a Dbacks fan, so I pull for Schilling's team.

dragon Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 You can stick a fork in the Red Sox.....they're done
Colt45 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 » You can stick a fork in the Red Sox.....they're done .....................just like last year...................
Ben Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 » .....................just like last year................... You read my mind. They can and probably will explode.
