We leave next Thursday for a weeks fly fishing at Fundo el Salto Lodge in Chile before we head to the Habanos Festival.

http://www.fly-fish-chile.com/el%20salto/el%20salto.htm

I have never fished for trout while ken is a relatively old hand at 6/7/8/9 lb specimens in New Zealand.

While Kens Cuban Bonefish guide blew us all away with the tale that he has cast for ken every trip.....a fact that Ken vehemently denies.....Ken has always retorted that he has never seen me catch a fish.

So at the Fundo del Salto lodge we have an opportunity to put each mans abiltiy to the test. I recommend that we fish together (2 fisherman 1 guide).

He can put up 25 aged Lusitanias. I will put up 25 Genios.

To the largest fish of the week the spoils.

Now on this thread you can lay side bets.

Make an offer eg:

Cigarhoon Bets 5 HDM e2 on Ken for largest fish.

Follow up post:

Bigbooby: I will take Cigarhoon Bet with 5 PASD4.

Cigarhoon followup: Agreed to Bigbooby.

Only one bet and acceptance per member.

Of course....Ken has to agree to the plan ;-)

I will post results from Santiago on our return to Havana. Settle up bets promptly. Will post photo's once I return March 6 :-)

» I foresee total chaos

Yes...the sidebets will be reminiscent of a Cockfight.

Match vitolas in your bets gentlemen....or as close as you can. Makes it easier.

Still waiting on Kens acceptance.

 Yes the final days fishing will be Intriguing. I am atuned to Kens "competitive" spirit and I suspect previous days heckling will turn into fly fishings version of "rollerball"

Rob,

I have looked into this lodge in the past. Should be a great trip with umatched scenery! I have seen others do well on The Spring Creek. Will you be fishing different water everyday???

We do fish different water everyday. Small streams, rivers from boats etc. Looking forward to it particularly as we have been told two members of the British Royal family will be sharing the lodge. 5 Aussies...and two Brits. They will cancel ;-)

Ye olde Aussie / Pom kindred spirit connection lives on.

i get back from a small lunch of some 18 bottles, 4 of them magnums and two VP's, amongst 9 of us to share a few drinks and some aged punch SS2's and genios's on the balcony with springsteen in full cry, with mates to find this rubbish.

one word - trust. i see no point in this absurd contest - he has lied about the guide for years. what chance truth here.

pick the odd one out - truth, justice and ayala!

let us also not forget that 25 genios cost rob about a dollar fifty each while i would then have to buy the aged lusi's from guess who at full whack. at least the weather bureau knows where rob thinks the last shower was.

fat chance.

Lets cut to the chase Ken. You put up 12 Lusis and I a 25 count Genios.

I will even let your guide cast every second time ;-)

Lets call this on. Let the games commence !

Since this is official I will post by bet again.

I am taking Ken and putting up 5 PS 2's.

» This is "On" :-D

you are an idiot.

unfortunately, my occasionally too zealous competitive nature means, as we discussed the other day when this was put away but, dear hillary ayala, i see you are prepared to say anything, do anything, to pander to the forum. some of us rise above that. as i was saying before i interrupted myself, my occasionally overzealous competitive nature would turn the entire thing into a win at all costs, no holds barred, no trick is too dirty battle that would take the ocus off enjoying the trip.

what say we just put my first trout trip up against this one for you.

then we are on.

LMAO... I love this bit... image277.gif

In fairness to Ken... in an email he told me quoting here "any other misguided soul touches my gear, i will break his arm (and rob's for this malicious rumour)"
