1f1fan Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Partagas Serie D#3 EL – 2001 Size: Corona Gorda 46 x 143mm I was gifted a pair of these about 10 months ago and decided to stop looking at them and fire one up. This beautiful box pressed Partagas had a nice wrapper and a heavenly aroma, I knew this was going to be a winner. Armed with a Guinness in hand I headed out on a chilly fall evening to enjoy this Corona Gorda. Burn, wrapper, construction...everything was flawless and puff after puff I enjoyed the rich and deep flavor of this EL….Partagas wood and spice all the way and the EL wrapper added a different dimension to the flavor. The rich flavors of the Guinness paired very well with this cigar....a very nice combination indeed! This cigar made me wish I had been smoking Habanos regularly back when these were released, I’d love to have a box or two now. A fabulous smoke at 4 years that will no doubt get better and better with age. A solid 93 in my book.
wasch_24 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Nice review Paul. I have only had one and it was off, way off.
56Tweed Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 This is one of my favorite ELs. I only bought a handfull of them, but they have been smoking great at this point. Mike
cf2112 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 » Nice review Paul. I have only had one and it was off, way off. Sorry to hear that, I have not tried one in a while and may let them rest longer now.
strayvector Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I've heard so many good things about this cigar and the Partagas Piramides EL, but have never had seen them available sale. Would love to try one. I hope to someday come across a trade or a pass for these.
shrink Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 One of the best EL's ever, and still improving with age. I only had singles of these, and have been kicking myself ever since for not buying at least a box. Fortunately, I've bought boxes of the Party EL's since. They're still snoozin'.
GoodTimes Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Nice review! These used to be a favorite of mine, until I smoked the last one some time ago. And to think you used to be able to get them for $240 a box...before the EL prices went crazy.:-(
Elric Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 DD3 is an excellent cigar, I've smoked all of my singles and won't be cracking any of the boxes for 2 yrs at least.
rd123456789 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 This is one of my favorite ELs, tied with the RyJ Robusto that just started getting really good. The PSD3 have been good for a while. The Hoyo Piramides use to be on the list, but are slipping because a recent sampling.
joerose Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 The kicker is that when these were available in Havana they were something like $115 US a box.

thschrminm Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 These have been very good and the ones from ARA boxcode are smoking very good right now...
litehedded Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 was gifted one of these and it was absolutely outstanding two thumbs up from me
Mr. Japan Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 My only box purchased is almost over, never been disappointed. The construction is always been perfect, the draw and burn fantastic. Dark oily maduro wrapper, typical of almost all the Flavor on this cigar is very powerfull, rich, extremely earthy, leather, burn coffee To be smoked on the afternoon, a true connoisseur cigar it will develop much more complexity over time , this is probably the best Partagas has recently made together with Lusitanias. I don’t have another box, but this is a cigar than in another 5 years will be THE ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!
