I want some seriously good cigars. If not up to scratch then I will pass. I need to see a selection of boxes.

The 2 boxes of JL Obus re-release I saw in France a few weeks ago were actually nicer (oilier) than the initial release. I guess that doesnt mean much, though, given the sample size...

I tend to assue the worst in these matters. No reason to do so except that I am uncomfortable with the whole concept of "Re-Release". If the quality and blends are spot on (no reason to think otherwise) then I will advise. If not....I will also advise.
56Tweed Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I just happened to smoke one of the Estupendos last night to see how they were doing. I was pretty happy with how they progressed, but it seems odd that they would have another batch when many vendors still have some from the first run.

I know the punch robuso came out again a couple of months ago. If the RAE does come back out, I will certainly be buying a box.

Otherwise, w/o "Re-Releases", the desired REs can only be found in the secondary market which makes the prices 'sky high'... Case in point would be those Italy's Punch Superfinos or RA Seleccion Supremas, Swiss REs, ED 109 etc...

The Swiss Re-Release is not the same as the Punch Super Robustos or the RA Estupendos one since it did not happen within the two years limit. At least that is my understanding.

Collectors might not be happy since it dilutes the value of the cigars. But, it doesn't matter to me as long as the quality is on par.

Lets take The Punch and Ramon Allones Regional Releases for the Asia Pacific Region. Serial number of 2006 produced : Punch Super Robustos 25's : xxx / 1720 Punch Super Robustos 50's : xxx / 420 Totally 2,140 boxes are produced Ramon Allones Estupendos 25's : xxx / 1,240 Ramon Allones Estupendos 50's : xxx / 260 Totally 1,500 boxes are produced Serial number of 2007 produced for re-launch : Punch Super Robustos 25's : should be xxx / 1680 but . Shipment will arrive in two weeks. Punch Super Robustos 50's : xxx / 400 Totally 2,080 boxes are produced Ramon Allones Estupendos 25's : xxx / 1,200 Ramon Allones Estupendos 50's : xxx / 200 Totally 1,400 boxes are produced The leaflets do say relaunch of the these items, "Its great acceptance encourages us to present this edition again, in exclusively to the Habanos lovers in Asia Pacific". Please see attached leaflets of 2006 & 2007. Yes...there was a muckup in 2006 numbering. Those experienced with Habanos s.a will say......whats new? ;-)
