Well I am hereby declaring 2007 as the year of the robusto. Every robusto I have sampled from 07 stock has been from very good to fantastic, across multiple marcas. I feel there is an effort being made.

Anyone else agree? Disagree?:-P

Well now that I am no longer two sheets to the wind I will post what I've been thinking about the past couple weeks. Jeez, like finally talking to that girl you've been flirting with for months and you open your mouth and say "Your face smells pretty."

The robusto is not my favorite size. Not to say that I don't love it, but I prefer thinner ring gauges in general and think the lonsdale is my perfect vitola. But there is always a time and a place for the robusto. It is easy to smoke, requires little technique, and provides a solid hour of plentiful smoke.

In 2007, I have a cab of ERDM Choix supremes, cab of JLO#2, box of Bolivar RCs, PSD4s, and Cohiba robustos. All have shown marked increase in overall quality, IMO. They have appreciable heft, are oily, potent, well-made and of very high quality. Add to that the inclusion of the Petite robusto and the petite edmundo, as well as the much anticipated PL robusto that appears to be a hit in the making, and it seems that it is currently a featured size. Very high quality tobacco seems to be thrown at the size, which makes sense considering it is often the size that newcomers will often grab onto first. Very smart. Make that first taste unforgettable. New smokers needed. More lifelong cuban cigar addicts like me.

Other than the ERDM Choix, I have 2006 boxes of the others: the JL #2 has gone into a bland period, coming off a great start. The BRC's are still good, the PSD4's are mellowing nicely, and I haven't even sampled an '06 CoRo yet (and won't for a couple of years).

From what I'm hearing, the 2007 Hoyo Epi #2 sounds worth getting, too.

Well, this is interesting in a good way. :-D

I am more of a DC and Churchill or Dalia/Lancero smoker. However, I have been smoking more Robustos lately. But most everything I have been smoking or acquiring has not come from '07.

Even my RASS I just got were '06s. :ok:

Agrred. There are only a few exceptions with Juan Lopes early 06 being stella but now a little subdued. HDM Epicure 02 were friendless in the betting but came home like a Melbourne Cup/ Kentucky Derby winner late 06 which has continued into 07. I haven't seen enough 06 R&J Exhibicion No 4 to comment. Cohiba Robusto's are the best in a hell of a long time as are RASS/BORC/SLR Regio.
