I realize this is a very young cigar, but they were acquired as cold weather smokes, and today being

all of 31'F, I think it fit the bill.

Construction: Looked very nice, but felt just slightly heavy in the hand. The foot showed a bit

of a tight roll. Aroma cold of sweet tobacco and raisins.

Wrapper: Very nice medium colorado, on the tannish side in hue. Slightly toothy with no oils.

Draw: Pre-light draw was on the firm side, with a taste of sweet, rich tobacco. Draw remained firm over

the course of the smoke, but as the cigar warmed, there was excellent smoke volume.

Taste: With a smoking hand that was quickly numbing, and a nose that was running, it was a bit difficult

to discern any subtle flavors. But there was a core of rich, almost chocolatey, sweet tobacco. A nice overlay

of lightly stewed, bright fruit. The fruit element subsided relatively quickly, giving way to a wonderful toasted

tobacco taste. Medium / medium full in body, there was absolutely no harsh, bitter, or sour notes. Amazing for

such a young cigar. I do feel it will become more fully integrated as time goes by.

In my opinion, this smoked much better than some '06s I smoked early this year.

I don't think it would be fair to score this one at this time, but I enjoyed it immensely.

P.S. A couple of hours later, I still enjoy a creamy, toasted tobacco aftertaste.

Damn, that's some weather, man...

I smoked a few DIC 06 that were on the tannic / ammonia side a few weeks ago. I know the sweetness and fruit you're talking about. I think Rob calls it "stewed fruit". I find them very spicy, too. Fantastic cigars.

Colt, you nailed it in this review. To me, this is the best small-ring 2007 production cigar out there. A winner, for sure!

Edit: IMO, if they had rolled this into a lonsdale, and put an RE band on it, it would be selling like hotcakes. The essence of Ramon Allones.

I enjoy the -06's but after this accolade I guess there's no way out except buying a few boxes of the -07's. What is it with us cigar smokers, leading others into sin and poverty? :-D

Well... theoretically, you could just not buy any, miss out and die stupid.

You're right: buying a few does sound like the better option. :-)

I'm sure they'll age beautifully.

Now whether they will last long enough for me to find out is a totally different question. :-D

Heard so many good things about the 07 RASCC that I bought some, but have yet to smoke any. Still working on a box from early 06 that's been excellent. No ammonia problems, just a tasty quick smoke.

I always enjoy reading review feedback -

Claudius, I found the '06s to be somewhat disjointed and a bit lacking in flavor in comparison to

this one. And I don't know if these will have much chance to age :-)

Shrink, funny - while smoking this one, I was thinking carlota or parejo - but sans RE band!

Kjell, I am a sinner.......

Jeht, that's kind of how I felt about the '06s, but I'm glad I went for these. I hope you have better

luck with your next sample.

And to the guys who have them, but have not tried them yet, I don't think it would hurt to give

one a shot.

The 16 boxes of NOV and DIC 06 I have smoked have all been very good to excellent, some even better. This box I just started smoking is a bit harsher. Maybe these are going into their infamous "sick period" now? I have a few FEB and MAR 07, I'll try a box of these to compare.

Spot on review Colt :ok:

I have smoked a hell of a lot of these over the past 24 months all fresh and whatever we had open in stock. They are an 80% cigar which is that 80% of what I try is excellent. Any that have disappointed appear to be rogue boxes as there is no correlation to year or box code.
