SonGoku Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Had the pleasure of meeting Don Alejandro myself earlier this year when visiting Cuba. Hope he went to see Alhambra. Was a dream of mine to visit the place for a long time. So last year I had the opportunity to do so. A very beautiful and historical place. If you're ever in the southern part of Spain it's definately worth a visit. Even though I have a lot of family in Spain I won't go for christmas this year. But my sister is so I'll ask her if she can buy me a box to bring home. Cool pics Rafa. ¡HALA MADRID! ;-)
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 He hasn't aged a bit! I suspect Don Alejandro looked the same since he was 14 He is a true gentlemen. I hope to spend time with him again soon. I hope that I am as active and sharp when I am i my late 80's. Actually I would settle for late 50's ;-) »

rafa Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 signed for me by "el maestro" this morning in Madrid box code, very young, september 2007 limited , my box nº 1800 of 2400 sorry a very bad photo uppps, now i must go to my work, i will continue this post later
rafa Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Yesterday was a lucky day for me. I went to buy the new regional edition for Spain VEGAS ROBAINA MAESTROS ( Was launched this week). I went to my favourite tobacco shop in Madrid, who owner is Jesus Llanos , he was hombre Habano ( Habano man) year 2003 or 2004, i don't remember. He has a beautiful shop with a big walk-in humidor and a elegant living room. And what a surprise because inside the shop was DON ALEJANDRO ROBAINA, the most famous cuban farmer. He was inside with some persons of his family circle, between them his grandson (he continues the family tradition). Don alejandro is in Spain for the promotion of the new vitola and for some tourism, they were talking to visit La Alhambra in Granada ( Andalucia ) today. D. Alejandro is a venerable grandfather who was sitting in a comfortable armchair. Jesus LLanos present him to me, i told some friendly words and shook my hand with him ,and then he put my hand near of his heart, and the true is he don't talk very much but he dedicated with his autograph a box of his cigars to me (Rafael). Between the people was a very friendly man from Altadis that took a photo of Don Alejandro with me that he email me this morning ( see below). To take a photo with Don Alejandro and do it very near of my home make me a happy day. About the cigars, the wrapper appearence is fine although a little bit rude ( and not maduro), the construccion is fine but not the better i have seen and the smeell is sweet tobacco but not very intense. I will try to write a review with my poor English the next days. Rob or anyone , i have a doubt, inside the box there is a little sheet with the inscription 1800/2400 , i suppose that my box is number 1800 of 2400 avalaible. But inside box there is a paper flier that said that Maestros is a limited edition of 20.000 boxes only for Spain. There is a contradiction ?????
rafa Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 » Hey rafa, where's the shop (name, address, website URL, etc.)? I'm going » to be in Madrid on Monday night. Will you take me there? I'd get you a » cigar ;-) Thanks for retouch the photo. I don't know if is polite write here about Rob competitors , although in Spain is illegal sell cigars (and all kind of tobacco) in internet. If prez delete this post i can understand it. Excuse me in advance. The shop is : Estanco CARDENAL CISNEROS 17.- Calle (street) Cardenal Cisneros 17 (Madrid) – Owner : Jesús Llano. Claudius, I haven't time between Monday - Friday , but the tobacco shop (Estanco in Spanish) is in the center of the city, and if your hotel has a good location in the heart of the city , a taxi driver will take there for the equivalent price of a cigar. Good luck http://www.flyingcigar.de/smoking_cigars/2..._30.03.2006.php
