it will have long been apparent that i am as devoid of any tech ability as a politician is of the ability to be honest. so this may be obvious to everyone else. in the big move, very little seems to have gone astray (problem is simply i cannot find anything). one thing yet to find (but lord knows why it would have been separated), is the wire/cord (whatever is the tech term) that connects the CD player to one of the speakers. playing the new bruce (the only other CD i have played with only one speaker was bruce 'live in dublin' and no probs there) and i can only just hear the voices very much in the background. it is almost instrumental (and no, that is not a good thing). thought it might be the CD itself so tried it in the computer and it is fine.

does this sound normal?

LOL! :-D :-D :-D

It's called a cable :-) Your best option would be to disconnect the cable you have that goes to the one speaker and take it to an electronics store. The other speaker cable being the same, they'll know what you need.

Well, the fact that the CD plays fine in the PC tells you that both the CD and the PC work, and that the CD notr working in the stereo is a stereo problem. But you knew that already, since there's a cable missing :-D Make sure the cable goes from the AMPLIFIER (AMP) to the speaker, not directly from the CD player. If you connect the CD player part of the stereo directly, the sound will be very very low.

I don't know any of the technical terminology, but I think the CD must have been produced for stereo rather than mono sound. In stereo different parts of the track are sent to different speakers, while in mono the entire track is sent to every speaker used.

Jesus Ken, you are a food writer.... That was the least lucid rambling i have ever encountered. "Not hearing The Boss" really turned you into a sniveling lunatic!

Check to be sure all connections are proper - fully plugged in. CD player to amp, and amp to speakers.

To me it sounds like a poorly connected speaker cable.

Looks like you've had a difficult time finding the Shift button on the keyboard as well. :-D

It's just left of the "z" by the way, can be found next the "/?" button as well. :-P

so that would be bruce jagger, bruce lennon and bruce bassey?

many thanks to all for their kind assistance but it got a bit weirder. yes, i know exactly what you are thinking. before i tried it in the computer, i twiddled all the knobs on the CD player and no change. after the computer, i put it back in the CD player and twiddled the same knobs and guess what - vocals. it now sounds normal.

i have no idea why it does anything.

Ken.....sounds like a loose connection or a "dry-joint" somewhere. (not a lot of help..............but probably what it is).

You were drinking when you posted that dribble...weren't you :lol2:

Check you speaker cables are plugged the right way round.

I can pop round with your Lusi's and take a look on the weekend. I will bring my own CD to play ;-)

I dont see how turning the buttons helps when you only have one speaker plugged in, so I tend to think you had been drinking, probably something sweet like Mas Amiel Prestige 15 ans. :-)
