I have a few questions regarding the weather getting colder and my cigars. What do most of you keep your temperature at in your humi's? Also, I tailgate at the Cleveland Browns games, where its gets pretty chilly, I always bring my travel humidor stocked w/cigars for friends and myself to enjoy, as well as any I happen to strike up a conversation about cigars with. The question is when it gets to be below 20 degrees or colder outside and the vehicle is obviously turned off, the smokes get cold fast. Usually becoming hard & even brittle right before my eyes. Sometmes they still smoke ok, sometimes they don't, but normally they begin to unravel or crack. Any advice in how to counter act this, or maybe a little trick to prolong the moistness of the cigars, besides leaving the vehicle running for 5 hours, and what about while I'm in the game for another 3-4 hours. I guess I could just smoke NC at the games, but the same problem still exists.

20 degrees? Are you nuts or just a die hard Browns fan? :-D

Try putting the cigar caddy in a cooler with a heat pack.

Hope this helps

I don't have experience with this exact scenario, but perhaps try keeping them on your person.

Obviously, you wouldn't be able to use a larger traveler, but you could keep them in a few ziplocks.

The warmth of keeping them under your coat might possibly help retain their humidity.

That cold dry air is a killer.

If you haven't already got one, pick up a cigar caddy or similar which protects cigars in an airtight manner. Use industrial Velcro and when you hop out of your car for the game, find a space under the bonnet ;-)

At those temps you are talking about a mobile refrigerator :surprised:

Hats off for going to the football in those conditions. I would rather rug up under a blanket with a fine woman (.....wife :lookaround: )

Call me crazy but my freinds and I usually go on at least one 3 day winter camping trip per season and yes we tent it. The coldest temp. that I have recorded was -28 F with RH of 20%. I pack my sticks in an Otter box and have never had a problem with wrappers cracking.

It gets so damn cold that we have to keep a pot of hot water on the

camp fire just to defrost the beers.:-D

Hey Guys, thx for all the replies. I'd say Loki is the nutty one for camping in -28 degrees, now that's crazy. Well sorry to say that moving to one of those warm weather states isn't an option, and adhereing a cigar caddy under my hat or clothing probably won't work either. Also, the stadium here jumped on the non-smoking band wagon this year and your not allowed to bring smokes of any type into the game, or smoke in the outside areas w/in the stadium. Its assanine, I mean you really are outside, but no smokie. Colt's idea would work for a few cigars but not the quantity that I bring. So I'm going to try Mark's idea of a cigar caddy, just ordered one from your website (make sure you get your 1% Prez.) and will place it in a cooler w/a heat pack. That should do the trick. We'll see I may not even need to use the cooler/heat pack trick. Mark, have you had experience w/the cigar caddies in cold weather? Thanks again all.

» Okay, but I guess you've never heard of the cigar bandolier

» A couple of these and a bunch of tubes.....I may try it myself.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Oh my God, Colt this is great. That actually looks like it would also work. I'd need to find a bandolier, but I love the look. The way they frisk you at the gate they would probably never uncover it. I love it.
