shrink Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 The cigar looked very much like I do at 5am after a long night. Beaten up, past its best but with a quiet dignity invisible to all but me. The wrapper looks a little loose, Rob. Can you relate? Love an aged RA. Nothing like 'em.

Guibou Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I love that cigar too! Agree on everything except for the 'rosted capsicum' that I never found... umh... I should have another one right away :-D !
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Ramon Allones Petit Corona (2002) A gracious gift from Guilaume in Beijing. Thank You It has been a few years now since I have had the opportunity to enjoy a Ramon Allones Petiti Corona. Discontinued in 2002 they were quickly snapped up by fans around the world. This was not the prettiest cigar. Roughish wrapper with some deterioration of the band (looked almost corroded). The cigar looked very much like I do at 5am after a long night. Beaten up, past its best but with a quiet dignity invisible to all but me. Aroma at cold was aged leaf. Still pungeant with a sweet toasted tobacco core. No hard or soft spots and the foot was nicely bunched. No doubt it would draw well. Cerrated the cap and the test draw was perfect. Sweet cream edge on the lips. You have to love aged Ramon Allones. Fired up the foot and immediately the cigar went into a medium body profile with slight pepper through the nose accompanied by toasted tobacco and sweet cream on the palate. A cigar like this immediately relaxes you. You know that there will be no psychological journey to see if it will improve or questions as to its potential. It is good now. It has reached its apex and it is unlikely (hard to conceive) that it will ever surpass its current state of perfection. Aged Ramon Allones. Sweet cream and toasted tobacco. Light pepper spices. The aroma from the thick white smoke is delicate almost floral. The burn is a little wonky but that can be forgiven as it just cam e back from Beijing. I am not at my best so why should I expect it to be so. The Petit Corona is building in strength from the mid point. The white pepper bursts have taken me a little by surprise as if the cigar is reminding me that my initial comments have painted it as a *****. It isn't. It has depth of flavour still enveloped in the sweet cream and tobacco profile but now it is showcasing some biting white pepper grip. Very nice show of personality. It continues to build in body to a point of Medium full. The flavour intensity also increases proportionally introducing some nice roasted capsicum notes. Nubbed it ;-)
