tigger Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 » I'll be in Paris and London in the next weeks, any suggestions on cigar » shops to visit? » » Thanks! I've not yet been, but word is that JJ Fox in London has a very cool "cigar museum" that they might show you if they're not too busy.
Mr.T Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Go check out La Civette in Paris. It has been around forever. I purchased some smokes there this past summer. They have a great and wide selection of cuban cigars (some regional editions included) and very good service.
Cam Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 paris yes i lived there! Visit La Civette! and there's a small shop on saint honoure called Le Lotus which is very recent, most cigar prices are regulated. Cam - if i can help in any other way let me know! The smoke shop also is good

Stalebread Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 » I'll be in Paris and London in the next weeks, any suggestions on cigar » shops to visit? » » Thanks! A La Civette is on the rue St-Honore. Just around the corner from the Hotel du Louvre which has a cigar friendly bar. Their location is across the rue de Rivoli from the Louvre/Carousel so if you're doing the Musee du Louvre it's a good place to take a break. There are many tobacco stores called "Civette" in France. I'm not sure they are related. The one on rue St-Honore is the oldest in Paris. It is owned by Davidoff. The cigar shop in the lower level of the Publicis Drugstore is also a good place for cigars -- Habanos only. Its at the top of the Champs Elysées, very close to the Arch. Boutique 22 is at 22 ave. Victor Hugo. They enlarged their walk-in about a year ago and have a decent slection. It's not far from the Publicis and the Arch. As long as you are in the area you can do both and stop in at the Sir Winston cafe (5 Rue De Presbourg) for a smoke. Le Lotus cigar shop is at 4, rue de L'Arcade. It is just around the corner from the Bar Le Forum (4, bd Malesherbes) which is a very nice place to smoke a cigar. Please let me know if I can help further. I should be around the next couple of weeks so if you want to try to get together for a cigar and a drink, I'd be more than happy to. Ken
Claudius Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 » There are many tobacco stores called "Civette" in France. I'm not sure they are related. In French language, "civette" means cigar shop, and by extension, any tobacco products retail store.

I thought it must be something like that even though my French/English dictionary says it is either chives or a civet cat. Isn't there something about in the old days rubbing tobacco on the skin of a civet to enhance the tobacco flavor? And probably piss off the cat. Or is this another urban legend from antiquity? Sorry for the diversion, Taino. Hope you're getting the info you're looking for.
Taino Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 Many thanks for all the info. I'll be in Paris 15th to 19th of november, and in London for the next 10 days or so. If anyone is up for smoking a cigar I'll do my best to join you. Thanks again for the info!
toasterhead Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Hello Taino, When in London go to: Walk from the Picadilly Circus/Regent Street end toward the west. Be sure to look in the Dunhill store and visit the cigar lounge and vaults. At the end of the street you will see: Check out the accesories and gifts as well as the cigars. Turn left on St. James and head down the hill to: It really is like a museum in the back room with vintage items and Churchill's favorite chair. Go with lots of time and LOTS of money. Enjoy, Dave
