aavkk Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Anyone smoke any 07's lately? CA seems to be a big fan but i think most of us can agree that they can be hit and miss on reviews.
Cam Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 you're right about the hit and miss part, smoked a few given to me by a mate, though I put it down to poor storage on his end, they were inconsistent, tasted bland and only one reminded me of a real Montecristo, overall though I think they have alot of POTENTIAL. anacostiakat Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 No '07s here. The 04s I have had are very good with good consistency (so far). But other than that one box I would rather buy the HU #2.

I have 3 boxes of 06, smoked one, very good quality, should be good in say 2-3 years. No idea about the 07s. They have just come out, havent they? Maybe ask Rob, he's the one who smokes cigars that are less than a month old :-D
stever Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Wrote the following in another post last week: Have recently purchased some ROA FEB 07 Monte 2s (10 count boxes) from El Prez. Great cigar. Excellent construction, good aroma and a great smoke. Nice creamy coffee flavors with just the right amount of cedar and spice. Perhaps a bit tannic for some right now, but not at all off-putting. Mind you, I have been accused of being a cigar nubile chaser by some. They should be dynamite in a few years, but they're surprisingly approachable now. I left it to Rob to make the selection for me. He chose the 10 count boxes on the basis of their quality.

I think that 07 is as good if not better than 06 which were the best since 1998. I had a good look through the Monte 2's yesterday afternoon and there are still a few dodgy boxes amongst a majority of exceptional ones. 10 count boxes for some reason are consistently excellent.
jdbrown Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Hey Rob, I have noticed the same pattern in the last year as 10's have been the lesser of two evils! Sampled an early 07 last night from a 25 er box that contained the darkest and oiliest Monte 2 I have ever seen. It still did not hail in comparison against ordinary looking Monte 2 from a 10 ct box a week earlier. Your take??
