smokum Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Comments please...what are you guys tasting out there ?
habanohal Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 The only 2 CHurchills I would reccomend is ...Cohiba Esplendido and Older Punch Churchills.. I dont find bigger sizes packed with much flavor
Mel Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I have had more bad experiences with this vitola than any other. Plugged or tight seems to be the most common. Punch leads the way with the most negatives. Partagas is better repesented with almost any other vitola they make IMHO. Tight Upmanns have been a problem but I prefer the flavor and strength of the Upmann better. Cohibas are more well constructed but cost considerable if that is a problem for you. Bolivar are a step up across the board and I just love the whole Bolivar line. SLR churchills are hard top find and I only have one box from '98 and they are mild. Hoyo, R&J and La Gloria Cubana lead the way for me with the Tainos as top dog.
broozer Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 » Comments please...what are you guys tasting out there ? here's my picks in order: 1) SLR churchill 2) sancho panza corona gigante 3) punch churchill 4) QDO imperial 5) BCG hope that helps. bruce
stever Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 RyJ POW from '01: Rich, heady flavors; some have been tight. ERDM Tainos from '05: Complex and subtle smoke that slowly builds. First rate tobacco and construction.
Colt45 Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Bolivar Coronas Gigantes H.Upmann Sir Winston » » » the rest
El Presidente Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 la Gloria Cubana Tainos Punch from 1998 (cabs in particular) I tend to reach for La Gloria Cubana Tainos more than any other.
havanaclub7 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I would also highly recommend the Ramon Allones Estupendos. It's a wonderful cigar that is showing glimpses of greatness. It will, alas, have to rest for another year or so to get there. ****** some up because it's a regional release and won't be around forever.
Benoît Wagner Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Partagas Churchills de Luxe, smoked on saturday night : a great time.:-) Cohiba Esplendidos : but far tooooo expensive !:-( http://benoitwagner.typepad.fr/churchill_attack/
Claudius Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 » Comments please...what are you guys tasting out there ? I absolutely love the Sir Winstons. I like Esplendidos a lot, but as Benoît says, they're very expensive. Bolivars are nice, but the Partagas I find too light.
bassman Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Bolivar CG- to me they taste best & are a great value Upman Sir Winston RA Estupendo Cohiba Esplendidos are nice, but IMHO, not worth the extra money.

Had a BoliCG I got as a single last night. I'm guessing its either 05 or 06 production. It was mighty fine. Medium bodied but layers of complex boli flavors that we've all come to love.
Professor Twain Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Aged Hoyo Churchills are my favorite. RA Estupendos are amazing if you can get them.
