Great to be back! I will catch up with the forum tomorrow but while I was downloading a few photo's I thought it apt to post them now from home.

Had a great week with my Son Ben, and Daughter Becky and joined later in the week by my brothers.

Lake Boondooma is 3/2 hours north west (360km) of Brisbane. It is a 1900ha dam fed by the wild Stuart and Boyne rivers. Bass and Yellow Belly are the heart and soul of the fishery. Like the rest of the country the drought has hit hard and the damn is down to 11% capacity.

Accomodation is very good and for the sake of simplicity we took a cabin

The water of the damn use to lap the front of our cabin.

And today at 11% capacity

Our canoe is the centre of our fishing trips.Ben and Beck have agreed on the name Diva Assassin. Let's say agreement was difficult....Beck wanted Diva...Ben Silent Assassin. The canoe is pretty much unsinkable and the outrigger setup allows 2 people to fly fish standing up comfortably although on this trip I kept the Fly's away until late afternoons. The canoe gets into places many boats cannot and with a cruising speed 15km/hr (9mph) it does what it needs to do effortlesly.

When away I tend to take the opportunity to sample non Cubans sent and recommended by good friends. The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva shown above was excellent as was this Tatuaje which I enjoyed late one night. Thankyou Keith and Tom. I also really enjoyed the yellow banded Cama...? remind me what it was.

The fishing was competitive. Ben is a bastard competitor at the best of times and this trip was no exception. The three of us picked up 78 fish in 8 fishing sessions and released all of them including one tagged Bass ....which we caught twice in one day in the same location :-)

Mornings are a special time

The fishing was fast and furious with lipless crankbaits and Bens Tilsan Green Timber 4m diving lure doing equal damage.

There was plenty of trash talk after Ben landed a lovely 43cm Bass. He asked me if I had left my "A" game at home.

This 45cm Yellow Belly shortly silenced him.

as did another

Beautiful Sunsets.

Late nights catching up with brothers.

I am back and focused and more appreciative of Lise than ever. We will be launching as at next week our Czar House Wednesday afternoon fishing trips where one local member is taken out for a fish on the canoe over a few cigars and a few beers.

Great to be home :ok:
