Zippo Blu *** 1st Look***

Recommended Posts

FOH Comrades,

Now I have never been one to shy away from spending a bit of money on a new piece of quality hardware, so few people should be surprised that I would invest $70 perfectly good USD on some new and quality flame delivery apparatus. Zippo Blu is the newest lighter from the renown American company Zippo. Their lighters optimize fine American craftsmanship. See Link -----> http://www.zippoblu.com

So you can imagine my surprise at the piece of dog **** I have been attempting to light my fine Cuban sticks with for the past 3 days. Just this evening Jimmy2 (know by a few of us as Jimmy Cubano to many of us) and I wasted an hour of our life trying to make this hopeless heap of crap bring forth fire. We would have had better luck rubbing to sticks together.

To that end I have decided to make the following happen in an homage to Mark Ecko... Over the next 5 days I invite you my fellow friend of Habanos to vote on one of the 3 courses of action.

1. Leave the lighter be, give it time to be broken in.

2. Retire it by throwing it into the East River.

3. Beat the crap out of it with a hammer and post the photos online.

At the end of these 5 days I will tally up your collective responses and do what I must!

I chaecked them out @ RTDA several different booths they all seemed to work great, I didn't care for the flint strike but they did work well.

i know you didn't offer this as an option but did you consider taking back for replacement? It is a Zippo I'm sure the warranty is decent.

I had mine for 10 minutes before it stopped working. It worked twice and then I couldn't get it to light again. I send it to Zippo to see if they could fix it or explain why a new lighter wouldn't work. I think the Zippo insert is a better way to go. They should have just stayed with that. The Zippo Blu "two stage" lighting process is garbage. I still go back to the Blazer PB-201 every time.

I've got the CG001 clear. Bought it from the UK distributor for £30. I had initial problems with lighting; sent it back for adjustment and it's been fine since. I like the fact that you can see how much fuel is left.

Great lighter.

My first reaction is always to smash it and send it back in pieces with a note that the "smashed garbage" truly reflects my opinion of their product. I point out that I do not want a new one....just that they have a clear understanding of how I feel and how many people I will tell this story to.

What happens next is always interesting. Good companies will come to the fore. Poor companies will hide.

The sensible course of action is to return it under warranty. I often wish I was more sensible.

You gotta toss it in the east river, specifically 86th st in Carl Shurz park. Ive thrown many a piece of **** lighter over the edge. Hell, to commemorate such an event we should light up a couple BBF's that i just acquired.

  • 10 months later...

Stopping short of popping a cap in that Zippo's ass.

I would cut off small parts of it and send them to Zippo with a ransom note demanding financial restoration for the cost of the lighter and the emotional hardship this entire ordeal has caused.
