jdbrown Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I am relatively new to the forum but noticed that many a member enjoy classic rock. I saw Rush last night and was a clear BUY! Geddy Lee was dead on and Neil Peart did a mind blowing solo on the drums! As I drove home afterwards I could not help to think what It would be like to really " Live in a fisheye lens " If you are a Rush fan do yourself a favor and go!
tigger Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Thinking about it, but I'm at a point in life where I don't really groove on arenas and stadiums. Saw Cream at MSG in New York a couple of years ago, but that was a once in a generation event. A little bit Rush related - I saw Dream Theater in a small/mid-sized venue on Weds night, and they were really good. Mike Portnoy has stated that Rush has been an influence, and it's clear in some of their music. :-)
jdbrown Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 It was good..my oldest son enjoyed..Lot's of Canadians made the trip down. Had a party short before the concert..first one I had tried and think I need to buy asap!
atomross13 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Sept. 1 I will be at the concert. I can't wait!! They were great 3 years ago and I like Snakes and Arrows better than Vapor Trails. :-)
Toos63 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 My wife, not a Rush fan, and I went to see them last month in Phoenix. This was my fourth time seeing them live and although it probably wasn’t the best set list I’ve seen them do, they sounded unbelievable. Peart’s drumming had me in goose bumps and every hair on my body was happily dancing. Geddy’s vocals were technical and soaring. Alex was Alex, one of the best ever. Nails. They played lots of material from their new album, Snakes and Arrows, which at the time I hadn’t even heard. The new material was heavy, dreamy and groovin’. My recognizable favorites that night were: Witch Hunt, YYZ, Passage to Bangkok and Natural Science. My wife, again not a fan, came away praising the masterful trio. She was bobbing and grooving the whole show. That was totally shocking. She brought home Snakes and Arrows a couple of weeks back and it’s been in my player ever since. Great stuff, go buy it!
jdbrown Posted August 25, 2007 Author Posted August 25, 2007 I had not seen them before so it was great. The set was ok. Lot's of people go to see all the hit's and get dissapointed but hell they get tired of playing the same stuff!! I may even catch a flight to see them again next week. I will buy the new CD before I go.
