Tainos are the bomb and if you can get some with 9 years go for it. Then the 98 Punch Churchills are also very loaded with flavor. havent had the others

Moglman Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I like the Tainos the best of the three. I still smoke the 97 Punch Churchills regularly but they do less for me now than the past. Had one the other night after a Cohiba Maduro 5 and that was a mistake. Totally left me wanting. Still great flavor in the Punch profile. If you get the right box of HdMs, there is some serious Wow factor, really will make you happy you got them, but while I have had a few of these that were awesome, they didn't come from my boxes. Mine are ok, solid smokes, but rather one dimensional.
Mr.T Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I'd go with the ERDM Tainos. I have some from '97 and they are fantastic smokes. A very smooth smoke and enjoyable smoke with strong notes of pepper and coffee.

Tom Bolivar Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 That one is easy. Get the Tainos. Why? I don't like Punch and the Hoyo Churchills just don't do it for me either. :-) But like said before, you'll end up with all four of them anyway. :-D
Professor Twain Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I have not had the Tainos, but I have a box of the 98 Hoyo Churchills that are superb. Have had singles of the others and would rank the Hoyo above them.

I would take any and all because I still think that 1998 was the last truely great year for Churchills. You really cannot go wrong.

tigger Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I don't smoke a lot of Juileta 2s, because I prefer narrower ring gauges, but of what you've listed, I'd go with the ERDMs.
Mel Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 98 HDM Churchills???????? If they are well aged from a good source buy them. I think they are the best of the lot and possibly more rare. I have some of that year and they are some of my best smokes in the whole collection. Sorry but the Punch does not do it for me and I have had my fair share of tight ones.:-( ERDM might be to mild for me and would rather have the Chiox or Grandes de Espana.
