El Presidente Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 » From today's Washington Times: » [link=http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20070807/FOREIGN/108070032/1003]Malecon[/link] Great article. After 11 p.m., a section across from the luxurious Hotel Nacional fills with homosexual men, including Cubans and foreign tourists. The Malecon is considered a public space where loitering is legal. Still, many who come for the homosexual scene say the police harass them, even handing out fines. "The police are anti-***. They hate us," said Lorenzo Rodriguez, a drag queen in white lace and a long brown wig. I would advise Lorenzo to leave the white lace and brown wig at home I remember one night when staying at the Nacional I saw a huge party out front on the Malecon and decided to wander down ( Ken was on a date with a Belgian backpacker....hopeless task....story for another day). Anyway I wandered down to the Malecon in front of the Nacional and being highly perceptive....wondered why there were few females amongst the burgeoning crowd and the ones that were were rather exhuberant...and rather tall. I noticed that I was quite popular......and when the penny finally dropped.....quite nervous. With a half bottle of cheap rum in my hand and a big crowd of new friends I wondered how in hell I was going to extricate myself from this mess without upsetting my Cuban hosts who by this stage were encouraging me to dance and drink up. Taking one last swig of the rum and twirling a "senorita" (although a few "caballero lights" also lined up for a twirl) I excused myself, clenched my butt cheeks and stated to one and all that I was heading back to the hotel to grab some dinero so that we could all go out dancing. That is one of the few times I really appreciated the Nacional hotels "No Cuban" policy ;-)

Therefore garnering more interest in your new found friends as you sauntered back to the hotel. ;-)
