Professor Twain Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I'm not going to do a full review on this cigar, but this was one that was sent to me by a generous Board member. Perfect Bolivar earthy flavor on this cigar from start to finish. Probably the most flavorful Bolivar I have ever smoked. I have smoked a good number of aged Boli PCs, which were great, but this one was more flavorful and full bodied by far. I have also been smoking some 01 Boli Royal Coronas, this cigar is also a step up in flavor and body than the RC. It built in strength in the second half but remained smooth throughout. Great to get the chance to try one of these. A cigar that shows why the quest for aged high quality cigars is worth the trouble and extra expense. This is a 5 smoke ring cigar and one that I would love to get a box of. Highly recommended.
El Presidente Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Nice one PT :-) Bolivar Corona Extra has certainly cemented its reputation as one of the better ageing cigars available.
shrink Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Perfect Bolivar earthy flavor on this cigar from start to finish. . Yes, Professor... the older CE's do have that pronounced earthy flavor, which is a bit of an acquired taste. I actually prefer the 2006 CE's, which are not as earthy, but are plenty strong, and have a wonderful peppery, fruity intensity. I expect that these will also age well.
kjellfrick Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I agree on the smoothness of these. I smoked a -98 last night and it went down like an icecream but still made me dizzy afterwards. Great cigar but I like my -02 even better. Smoking these is like watching thunder approaching. WHAM!
bassman Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I've had bad luck with the 98 BCEs. Lots of tight draws & little flavor. Some are still around, but I'd rather go with the delicious 06s & age them myself.
