mr.harten Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Brand: Romeo y Julieta Name: Cazadores Shape: Cazador Origin: Cuba Size: 6.375 in. / 44 Date Rated: 7/12/2007 Source: Cigar Czar Price: $7.40 Box Code: N/A Age: ~6 Months Appearance & Construction (1-5): 2 This thing is damn ugly. It's got a lovely dark and oily wrapper but it is covered in large veins. It has a wrinkle in part of the wrapper and a lumpy triangle press. Smoking Characteristics (1-5): 3 Despite a flawless draw I never was really able to get a consistent burn going. This was due in part to having left my torch at the office and only having a couple of matches. When it was burning properly the smoke volume was immense with a decent ash. Flavor & Aroma (1-10): 9 Very full bodied and chewy with loads of pepper and spice leaving my lips tingling after each draw. Predominant notes of meat, leather and earth with mild hints fruit and raisin bread. Still a fair amount of tannins but tons of promise. A very pleasant aroma. 7.8/10

I had read so much about this cigar being a powerhouse in terms of strength but not a lot about the flavor and I was pretty blown away by how great it tasted and the potential for how it will taste is several years. Definitely on my short list for a box purchase.
bassman Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Love them- one of the best values in Cuban cigars. I've found they are hard to keep lit when from a freshly opened pouch. A couple days to dry out a bit is needed.
Ginseng Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Well done! This is one of my favorite cigars. One of the best taste-dollar values out there IMO. Late 05 and early 06 codes are simply titanic. Fresh from the foil, they blow my head off...with pleasure. Wilkey
Spartagas Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 » » » Ugly women can be the most entertaining That's because they try harder... at least that's what my friends tell me. :-| I'm really interested in these because I have a 10 year old one buried in the humidor somewhere, and a more recent one ('03?) gifted to me in a trade. I'm interested to see the impact of aging on these.

Well then you just need to remind me. :-P I love the Cazadores, but they need some significant time to age. They can be overly tannic when young, but after about 5 years....yeah baby!
