Colt45 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 One of the last of a group of singles acquired late in '05. Beautiful looking cigar - deep tan wrapper with a warm tinge. Perfect draw and excellent burn. These have taken some time to come around - this one was, well....... A chewy meaty cigar. Started off full bodied, though it settled back to just short of full. Complex in any way you care to use the term - varying flavor combinations every other draw, and amount of flavors. Impossible to break this one down into segments. Beefy in flavor and substance, chewy chocolate brownie. Notes of stewed fruit, hints of cherry. A bit of menthol, combined salt and pepper spice. A real WOW! cigar from start to finish. If this were a formal review, easily rates 97. If I knew I could get a box that were all like this, I'd be off to sell some blood. Out-Freakin'-Standing.
Mike33 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Nice review colt! I have only had one VR, a clasico from '04 I believe. It was very good, but was still a little young. Sounds like I should try the Famosos though :-D

Interesting...I have a 1/2 dozen with at least 5 years of age on them. Haven't tried one in years . Last time I tried one it was pretty flat. I have to revisit one and see how it tastes.
Colt45 Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 I had all but written off this cigar. I was going to finish what I had left and move on. It had been pointed out that this cigar (among others) needs a couple of years to start showing it's true self, and this one sample, at least, certainly showed that to be true. Right now, personally, I'd put this one in the same category as the PLPC - get 'em and forget 'em - for a couple of years. I'll try my last remaining single some time over the summer, and if it's anything like this one was, I'll certainly have to rethink my position. :-)
