cigardawg Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 » Drove past a bunch of the distilleries in kentucky a couple of weeks ago. » Anybody visit any of them? I'm thinking if they are cigar friendly that a » bourbon tour might be interesting. The Bourbon Festival is held every September in Bardstown, KY. 4-5 day event centered around bourbon. One of the nights is jazz/cigar night. Lots of Jazz playing, bourbon flowing, and cigars being smoked. I'll be there this year. I'll post info on it if anyone is interested.

[link]http://www.kybourbonfestival.com/[/link] My Mate and I will most definitely be attending. Book your hotel/motel early as some of them in the area are already sold out. They should have information on the various events on-line in the near future.
anacostiakat Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 » Bourbon the only spirit concocted in the good ol' USA. » » I been drinking the following as of late: » » Woodford Reserve » » Evan Williams Single Barrel various years. » » Bookers (high octane) » » Makers Mark (old standby » » » I usually enjoy these neat but have been known to ice em down one in a » while. They are both made by the same distillery. The Trace can't be beat, a great value! I recently tried Olde Williamsburg and at 101 proof its damn tasty
Duckguy Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I drink a lot of Scotch but am new to bourbon. Didn't think I liked it until Sleeper sent me a bottle of Knob Creek. Great stuff!
cigarnv Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Where does one begin... like cigars different bourbons have their moments.. My all around favorites are Weller Antique, Geo. T's ( I prefer the 140+ proof bottlings), Hirsch 16, RVW 15 (squat bottle) and the 10yo 101 proof Eagle Rare. For Manhattan's I use the 12yo E. Craig, VG Fox and WT RR 101.
SuperT Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I had enough bourbon yesterday for a LOT of us. I went to the 1st round of the NCAA tournament here in Jacksonville, FL and hit the Knob pretty hard (wait. . . that doesn't sound quite right! ). I enjoy a lot of the smaller batch bourbons and currently have in inventory: Booker's (too much oomph for me) Basil Hayden's (ahhh, more my speed) Maker's (always have it on hand) Beam (for when I feel squirly and wanna mix it with coke) Blanton's (love the bottle) and a little Dickel (not gonna buy again) Usually I'll pour over some crushed ice and let it sit for 2-3 minutes before sipping. Mmmmmmmm, bourbon!
connoiseur29 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I am stocked with EW single barrel, Maker's Mark, Elijah Craig, and Pappy Van Winkle 15 year old. I enjoy EW the most, Pappy 2nd, but cut and maker's at the end of a hard week at work.
kab55 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Won't touch the stuff, single malt scotch only please :-P
stogies&hoagies Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 » Won't touch the stuff, single malt scotch only please :-P Awesome more for me :-P Pappy's 20 yr old is my favorite. I wish they made enough where I could get it as often as I want it. I keep some Bookers on hand for when the Pappy's is out of stock.
jgros001 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Bookers Bakers Woodford Reserve Love the stuff...give it to me neat with a splash of water.
tey Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Bookers and Basil Hayden are two names that pair well with a party lusi
