Bolivar Coronas Extra

I received a few singles not too long ago, and was finally able to give one a try.

Construction, wrapper, and draw were all first rate. A firm draw without looking like

Louis Armstrong in reverse. Wrapper was medium colorado, a bit rough and dry to

the touch. Truly a finely rolled cigar.

Flavor wise, this one was dominated by white pepper, with supple leather underneath.

Some fruity hints on top, with notes of butterscotch from time to time.

There was also an underlying taste of dried chocolate - this one reminded me

somewhat of a Cohiba robusto, only with more power and body. It did show a little

youthful sharpness, but was never harsh or bitter.

Though not balanced at this time, to my palate, it shows the potential of a truly

excellent cigar in time. I rarely nub cigars anymore, but I did this one.

Nice review. Haven't smoked any young ones, but it sounds like I should change that. Do you know if your samples from early '06?

I get a lot of espresso and cocoa out of these.

The '98s are an exquisite after dinner cigar.

Sorry I don't have the codes. I would assume they're '06, but no guess as to when

in '06.

The "dried chocolate" sensation could certainly be considered unsweetened cocoa.

Mainly detected on the finish. It's a flavor I really enjoy.

If these hold up, a box (or a cab :-) ) is a no-brainer.

I have a 2000 cab that are like the strongest cigars ever with total leather and sod backgrounds with some chilli pepper and the finish of an extremely hoppy IPA. They still are nowhere near their peak. I believe this cab to be one of the finest Boli CE examples I have ever witnessed. Like they are supposed to be. They are not harsh in the least bit just more like a witches brew that needs to be stirred for a decade before the spell can be cast.
