shrink Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 What a great looking cigar! Good to hear it's coming along. Your "picture perfect" reviews are really enticing. Had a Monte EL dalia lately?
stever Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Nice review! Yet another smoke to add to the wish-list.
jgros001 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Maybe it is the lighting in the picture but the wrapper does not seem to be as dark as other ELs I have seen....certainly not as dark as the Monte Ds I've had. Great review!
Ginseng Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Sounds like this cigar is really starting to develop. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and smoke the specimen I have. Wilkey

Had a Monte EL dalia lately? I haven't had a Monte D in some time. Will rectify that shortly as I am keen to see how it is developing.
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Montecristo Edicion Limitada Robusto POS May 06 I was a little indifferent with my first tasting of these last year. I found them a tad bitter...a little harsh. So today I revisited the cigar along with a nice jammy shiraz (Mad Dog) and a Havana Club Anejo Reserva chaser. Gorgeous looking cigar. Well rolled with light cocoa aroma at cold. No hints of amonia. Cerrated the cap to find a great draw and a lasting impression of sweet cocoa on the lips. I am hoping that this cigar.....no I won't say it yet just in case I jinx it. Torched the foot....great amounts of billowing smoke, perfect draw and oh so sweet cocoa. I let it go another 1/2 inch. How to describe this cigar?......take the best capuccino coffee you have ever had....and picture smoking it. Cream, cocoa.....very Montecristo in profile. Medium bodied, not an iota of bitterness. Well past the halfway mark and the cigar is still sublime. Increasing in strength but still no rough edges. Even the aroma is slightly sweet. From the first draws this Monte EL Robusto reminded me of another cigar.....but I just put it out of my mind until the true essence revealed itself. Now I have no doubt. What I am smoking is a Robusto version of the Montecristo Double Corona Edicion Limitada 2001. Looking back at my notes the cigars are a mirror image in terms of flavour. Still all cream and cocoa. Dark roasted Arabica beans now making an inpact as the cigar moves from Medium to Full bodied. What a great cigar. 6 months has made a great difference to its development from a good cigar to a great cigar. I look forward to another try in a further 6 months. 90/100 5/6 smokerings.
