Professor Twain Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I picked up a couple of singles of these with my last FOH order. Box code was TGR MAR 05. I just finished smoking the first of these after 30 days in my humidor. What a great cigar! I have not smoked a lot of SLRs. I have a box of Serie As from 2002, and as I have had more of these I am starting to "get" the SLR flavor. But the Serie As are a bit mild for me. The Churchill surprised me with the intensity of flavor that I had throughout the smoke. The main flavors that I got were a honey sweetness, and unusual spice that got stronger as the cigar progressed. In reading other reviews of SLRs I have seen people refer to this as a "licorice" flavor, which I would not have come to on my own, but I think it fits. In general I have found that Churchill cigars are milder and more subtle than smaller cigars, but this one was medium strength and full flavored throughout, with a real flavor punch at the end. I would rate this cigar at 5 smoke rings out of 6, and 92 out of 100. Well worth a try.
xibbumbero Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I have a cab from 01 and I agree,a very nice Habano. X:-P
Ken Gargett Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 i have just about finished a box from '98, but never tried a young one. found them a bit mixed. some were disappointing and a little bland. others seriously good. would have prefered a little more consistency throughout the box, but when they are good, they can be very very good. tho i still think they are well short of ther SLR DC's.
anacostiakat Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 05 cab I smoked one from after about the same amount of down time in Nov (received Oct) gave me the same result as you. Will try another in 2008 if I can make it. ;-)
