El Rey del Mundo Grandes de Espana from 1992

A gorgeous looking cigar. Long, elegant with a very dark wrapper that was lightly covered with plume. The cap and construction was perfect.

Upon lighting, the cigar produced a generous amount of smoke which I found unusual given its small ring gauge. After lighting the aroma was slightly sweet and floral.

The first half of the cigar produced light but sweet flavors of spice, leather and fine cedar. At times the sweet spiciness became so prominent it resembled cotton candy.

The flavor profile continued the first 3 1/2 inches until an unexpected tartness appeared in the finish. At first it was the subtle taste of lemon, but soon changed into tart, sour grape fruit peel.

There nothing quite like a profile of sweet spice and leather followed by grape fruit peel. Whoooooo! I don't like grape fruit!

Regretfully I had to extinguish the cigar with about 2 inches remaining.

Perhaps this Grandes de Espana was already past its prime and should have burned it sooner. Still not a bad smoke.

On the 3rd box of mine now. This one from 2002. The first 2 boxes were nothing short of tent stakes. Pretty much unsmokeable.

The one I am on now is fabulous.

BUt if you really need to know bout plugged cigars.....ask Ken :-D

I think mine are 02 or so and I like them a lot. They draw better than I expected they would. My opinion about a cigar that is 14+ y/o??? If that SOB ain't on yet ******* forget it.
