CigarZen
First, they are great cigars. Do you know if they had a corojo (or more like a hybrid of it) for the wrapper leaf. Seems like that thin wrapper leaf that was used back when it was more available.
El Presidente
Issue was 2002 from memory. I believe they used the same wrapper as reserved for Cohiba. I will attemptto get a definitive answer at the PCC meeting Wednesday.
Curmudgeon
Those were nice, thin, flexible wrappers that burn very nicely. FWIW, some of mine have wrappers that are quite green--moreso than I've seen on Cohibas.
Elric
They are smoking wonderfully...now if they would only make more...
El Presidente
The finest of the Tang Monarchs were the light tan Colorado wrappers. They were exactly like the best of the Cohiba Esplendido wrappers. I have seen darker and I have seen some abberations bit inthe main the colorado shade persisted. Interestingly, I have never heard of someone who has been disappointed in smoking one.

shrink
What's the difference between Tang Monarchs and Monarchs ? David Tang is the chairman of Pacific Cigar, the licensed distributor for habanos covering Asia and Canada. in the early 2000's he commissioned the production of some special runs of Upmanns - No.2, Corona, and Monarch - to be made with special bands and SLB presentations. Though opinions vary, most aficionados regard these commissioned cigars as richer and tastier than the regular production versions.

El Presidente
I asked the question but the answer was confusing. The wrapper was to be a specific colorado shade (no reference to Cohiba). Once again while in the main the wrappers were Colorado, I saw some diversity.
