Ken Gargett Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 » Ok, first the Tang Upmanns, now the Davidoffs. Are you trying to hurt me! » LOL. FWIW, I've seen a fair amount of Davidoffs, and these #1s in your » pics appear to be in EXCELLENT condition. The wrappers still have a nice » sheen, the bands are only slightly yellowed. I think the cello helps » quite a bit with retarding aging. Very nice!! you think it is cruel for rob to show you things like these davidoffs - how about a call the other day. rob - we just got in three boxes of tangs. me - fantastic. i'm in for one. rob - ok. (he knows that i think these are some of the best cigars i have ever tried and that i am prepared to mortally wound the credit card, what remains of it, and to put his kids through another year of uni). rob - hang on a moment. lisa, we still got three? me - what? rob - two. okay then. hang on, what is that? one? what none. sorry, we don't have any left. talk about santa ripping the stocking out of a kid's hands. as a result, stand by for all the incriminating photos/evidence/anecdotes about peewee ayala that you can handle.
Ken Gargett Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 » » bolly make an annual diary (as it would be) and present them to worthy » » recipients. somehow rob has conned his way on to the list, » thereby » » demeaning it forever, because bolly now own ayala champagne. » » actually for the last two years, they have cut back (obviously not in » whom » » they hand them out to) as they used to be much larger and a far better » » format - beautiful big leather bound diaries. then they went hoi » polloi. » » Beware the green eyed monster Ken » » Bollinger recognise talent and opportunity when they see it. ;-) i actually prefer using the cohiba and habanos diaries (though they do work better when they remember to put in months) but don't tell bolly.

winelover Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Whilst they look absolutely fantastic and you will definately not have any difficulties in shifting those, I may count myself amongst the vast majority who would not be able to afford them, and would rather buy current production stock. In fact, even if I did really have £££'s to burn, I would concentrate my purchases on 06 stock and just try and be patient. Otherwise if I was itching, there is still plenty of stock out there with up to 10 years age on it - although of the most popular selections the price is at the higher end. I'd much rather try a perfectly stored monte #2, RASS or CoRo from the mid-90's, than a davidoff- even if from 87. Just my £0.02.
Ken Gargett Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 » Liar.....Suzanna is 67 could have been a couple of years older from what seemed to be going on in that room.

Just my £0.02. I agree Graham. I will keep the majority for myself on the premise that there is not enough to sell whereby I won't upset somebody. I was going to smoke one with Ken. However, I harbour resentment at being continually blackmailed by photographs which he purports to exist and hold in his posession.

connoiseur29 Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 wow, that's all I can say. I wish I had the opportunity to try one.
broozer Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 i've had the privilege of smkoing one from '84 and it was superb. one of the top 5 cigars i've ever had, no doubt. bruce
Loki Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I have smoked several from 1986 and they were quite good. It was like biting into a fine bar of chocolate.
Mike33 Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 One of these days I will get a Davidoff or a Dunhill, hopefully. I'm hoping to get one before I start Law school in the Fall and smoke when I graduate in 3 years. Some people have said the Dunhill's have held up better over the years. Anyone who has had the chance to smoke BOTH want to comment?
Jimmy2 Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I smoked a Dunhill from 1968 and it was still full of life.

El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 We received some 1987 Davidoff No 1 (Lancero) this morning. PCC here in Australia found them locked away in one of their humidors. The price they wanted retail was horrendous so don't ask. I will keep whatever supples are available for myself (for the time being) as they are trying to workout a wholesale price for me. The reason I asked for the 5 pack was to ascertain the condition which appears to be excellent. I post some pics for the benefit of mankind ;-)
