Old but new.

New in that it is the first time that this info has been formally issued by Habanos.

New in that includes (to my knowledge) additional info.

Regarding the Regional Issues.....2 extra regions have been added - Switzerland and Mexio...AND... Switzerland is to get TWO releases. We were advised during 2006 that all regions would be limited to a single release.

Finally (and the secrete decoder ring is required here) the Mexico RE is .... El conde 109 by Edmundo Dantes (50 x 184mm long).

Edmundo Dantes who or what the hell is Edmundo Dantes???

Any clues??..

Isn't it the character from Dumas', The Count of Montecristo? And I don't know spanish, but doesn't El Conde translate to The Count?

So I'm guessing it'll be a Montecristo 109 (double robusto)?

Possible except that Habanos 5 major brands (which include Montecristo) are excluded from the RE issues.

The size is certainly the 109 vitola. El Conde is spanish for The Count, but what is the brand??

very close...Edmond Dantes is the official name of that character...great movie.

I'm sure you are spot on though.

Ugh. This is definitely one of those cases where the book is far superior to the movie! A really great read.

Anyway, maybe this whole "...by Edmundo Dantes" thing is their idea of sneaking around that commitment not to make Montecristo a regional release. It sure sounds that way.

I wondered about this as well. Also, I found this slightly troubling:

"The current difficulties and restrictions that the tobacco sector is facing these days

are influencing and changing the smoking habits of consumers, who in view of the

existing restrictions for smoking favor cigars of higher quality and price."

Perhaps it's the translation... while I'm all in favor of higher quality, I'm pretty sure

I'm not in favor of higher prices.

Also, it would seem that our intrepid reporter in Havana deems us unworthy of

enlightenment with any first hand information from the festival / peripheral

activities.

Thanks Ken.......
