xibbumbero Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Anybody tried one? I'm curious how they are and what the aging potential is on this crop of SLR DC's. X:hungry:
Jimmy2 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Still young tasting but do they have some great flavor. They are stronger than my 05's and these just have not come around yet. I am starting to think the 06's are better...
stever Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Had some from two different '06 box codes. They were very good, I think better than the late '05s I've tried. The '06s appear to be richer and have more depth of flavor.

I have only smoked one of my SEP05s and I thought it was a truely delicious cigar given its' age. Now I am gonna be thinking of another cab from 06.
purosdave Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I would be really interested if somebody could do a comparison with the legendary 01s...

PM on it's way.
bassman Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 » anyone tried an 04? I've been smoking 02s & 04s. I seem to be in the minority, but I prefer the 04s. They seem a bit spicier & all have had perfect draws, while some of my 02s have been rather tight. I also picked up some 06s (Thanks Rob & Lisa!), but won't touch them for a while.
mailman Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 i'm glad someone posed the question. i have 5 sitting in my humidor, just waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer, it's not fun sitting on my patio in sub freezing temps by the looks of it for a couple hours.
Arkay Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 » I would be really interested if somebody could do a comparison with the » legendary 01s... Dave I've smoked thru almost 2 cabs of the 01 SLR DCs. This is truely a classic. Had the opportunity to smoke a 04 SLR DC and I would say that although you can tell they are from the same family the 04 is like a distant cousin. It was milder and less flavorfull. The 04 is a good cigar but it is not in the same league as the 01. Ron
jqmunro Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 If anyone has a couple 01's they would be willing to trade for some 06's, I would love to try a couple 01's... maybe 2 for 3 or something like that :-D
josie67 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I just had one yesterday from 12/05, and while it wasn't bad, it was a little bland and tiresome.

However,I doubt it. X:-|

The 01 SLR DC is a classic smoke and it's no longer available. I know cause I've scoured the earth w/o any luck. The people that have them cherish them and are reluctant to let any go. X:cool:
El Presidente Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 » Anybody tried one? I'm curious how they are and what the aging potential is » on this crop of SLR DC's. X:hungry: 2001's are a classic. 2006 are the best since then but at this point I need another 6 months to allow them to settle down. Fuller than the 01's. Nowhere near the complexity at this time....however if the stars align as I think they will in 6-12 months...you will have another classic.
