I love my zippo, but I'm thinking of stepping into the new millennium,

and finally get a butane torch. I like the basic, utilitarian style of the

blazer micro torch.

My specific questions, for those who use this particular torch, are regarding

reliability, ease of refilling, and approximate number of cigars lit

between refills.

I may also just get the blazer zippo insert, and would ask the same

questions of those who use this.

I'll probably eventually get a larger creme brulee torch for home use.

Thanks for any insight.

the blazer pb207 is probably the best torch out there...basic and utilitarian, but reliable and long lasting, it holds lots of butane and the flame is perfect...not the prettiest lighter out there, but one of the best...

I use both the lighters you talk of......the pb207 and the zippo with the z-plus.....I carrie both and use the zippo for backup and small touch ups....and the pb207 for really turning up the heat...everything the gentlman above me said is true about the 207....will last all week easely on a full tank and I smoke 3 to 4 sticks a day....both are awesome lighters and i have had many

if you get the 207 make sure you get the one that doesnt have the child safety button unless you want that.....if you cant find it let me know and I will give you the link where I got mine

Without a doubt. The PB207 is THE torch lighter. I have tried everything and this is the best. Great amount of heat (not overkill like some of the triple torches). It has a huge tank and refills easily. I ain't the prettiest but it is reliable and works. No frills. You will not be sorry.

I have used a the same blazer torch since 1998, and it has NEVER failed me once (I did order a Dupont L2 double flame "La Casa Del Habano" limited edition lighter Friday, and it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow...I will post pictures).

Colt, I have the PB 207, in both the "child proof" and "normal" configuration. These are the only lighters I have. I have never had a problem with either one. I took Mark's (Cigarmony) advice and purchased a can of the Vector fuel. No misfires or anything.

I would assume you could light a couple of boxes of Lanceros (with touch ups) on one tank of fuel. Maybe more or less depending on your trigger finger. The next "group buy" that I see, I will probably pickup 2 or 3 more of the "normal" configuration. I'll keep one and gift the others.

I like it, and cannot see purchasing any other lighter, except maybe an S.T. duPont down the road... a LONG ways done the road.

I rate this lighter:

100 points

6 smoke rings (out of 6)

Thank you all for taking the time to respond. The blazer it shall be. I may still get

an insert for the zippo as well - just because I'm so semi-mental.

And I might be better off with the child proof version......:lookaround:

Colt you will use the Zippo with the insert like i said i have most of the lighters mentioned here looking for something better and just went back to the zippo.

Its small /thin in your pocket lights your cigars just like any other lighter for a fraction of the price of the other lighters.

It's a Zippo and its been around for a long time because they are the best.

Go ahead Colt and waste money on the insert. Once you get the Blazer all other lighters are history. Don't forget to tell us what you think. Tell us we are full of **** or your heros.;-)

Blazzer is a great lighter i have 3 of them but i keep going back to the Zippo.

There is no differance in them both well except the look of them.

Zippo is nicer looking in my eye's and much more compact.

What all the other guys have said. My Blazer is 10 years old this year (I think) and it works as well as the day it came out of the box. I feed it only Vector quintuple refined butane and I think that has helped keep the nozzles clear over the years.

The Z-Plus insert works pretty much the same except for the capacity. It does appear to be a bit more finicky though.

Totally agree! Huge tank and have a VERY long life. Can't beat it for $40.

Colt I hope I'm around a long time to bug the **** outta ya'll. Jimmy I have to agree the Blazer is ugly and large but damnit I need a cigar to get lit. I used to carry two or three POS lighters around just in case one failed, cause they always did and one time was terribly embarrased at a party I sponsored cause all my lighters failed. Hell we had to use matches can you imagine that.:-( ******* neaderthal.

I've had the blazer for a couple of days now, and was able to use it

yesterday (thanks Mark). These are my initial impressions:

The user "manual" is rather lacking. I feel there should be a bit more

info - re purging, etc.

Tank needs purging before initial fill up, or at least mine did. Initial

performance was poor - sputtering - though to be fair, I don't think I

waited long enough for the fuel to warm / stabilize before trying first

ignition.

Purged tank, refilled, waited. It seems to be squared away, though it

usually won't ignite on first try - I'll see if this holds true.

Be careful using in bright sunlight! Cigar and / or fingers can be

burned to a crisp (thanks for the heads up guys.............)

For those who are concerned about the child resistant feature - the

tab looks like it could be snapped off quite easily, though I'm not

advocating that, and probably won't do it myself.

All in all, a nice unit that I'm happy with, though I'll hold off on

awarding hero status just yet. And I still might get the zippo insert....

I received mine a few days ago also...

I filled it up with ease (using Vector premium butane) and waited a few minutes, then rolled the CR trigger forward and pressed down...and it worked flawlessly. The CR tab is very easy to roll forward and it wasn't a pain at all to learn. Having a young son, it is well worth keeping intact. I absolutely love this lighter. Thanks to Mark on such great service and quick delivery. :-D

Hey Colt here's your heads up. FIRE CAN BURN YOU! Sorry I was late with this my bad.;-)

Jay, I agree - the CR is a non issue for me as well, and if I carry it in

my pants pocket, I'll feel better it's there - I consider it a safety.

Jimmy - you know I'll end up getting the insert :lol2:

Mel, thanks - I'll shake your hand when the burns heal, and I can

remove the gauze.

And for those who doubt combustion has anything to do with ash color,

try putting an invisible flame to the foot of a cigar (in my case Siglo1),

and see how white it becomes where you accidently got too close....

Would someone enlighten me about the Zippo "insert" you speak of?

I've been looking around and some places seem to sell the EXACT same lighter, same model number and everything, except it's called Prince, and is from Japan. Is it the same lighter? Is Blazer buying unmarked bulk models and just re-badging them?

I only wonder if it's Blazer doing it and not Prince since from what I gather Prince is a lighter company that's been around since I think at least the 1940s
