Hello to everyone...its been a long time !!!

Well i havent posted for several months. I see our forum has been growing leaps and bounds! VIVA FOH !!

I have just pulled out of our busy time for my business. I do all my work for the year in 4 1/2 months, its just plain craziness. We are planning our annual trek back to my wifes home in Puerto Rico.

Having travel plans, i need some advise. What is a good travel humi? Where can i purchase it? Im not looking for anything big, maybe 15 - 20 sticks. My past experience has not been very good. With the high humidity of the carribean, my cigars never really smoked good on this trip, very frustrating. Any advise is appreciated.

Also i have acquired a office away from my home. The winter is here on the central coast, and is frosty at night. Im not smoking on my patio right now, just no way. I would love to retreat to my new office and enjoy a cigar, however, i know my wife and assistant will not appreciate the smell the next day. Isnt there a devise to help cover up this smell? Where can i buy one? Again your advise is appreciated.

Nice to be back on board, Happy Holidays !!!

Thank you,

Cohiba

I have a 30 count cigar caddy that I have been very pleased with, they are waterproof and crush resistant but make sure to get one with a pressure release. I got mine from a US cigar company a couple years ago and I can not remember who it was. Do a google search and you should find plenty of results.

Check out otterboxes, they are great travel humis.

First off, welcome back! I imagine things must look a bit different after a layoff.

But to the question at hand. I agree with the guys that otterbox / cigar caddy is

the way to go for travel. But here is my own personal perspective.

I've taken a number of trips using various sizes of these boxes. They are airtight,

and as such, I've found that they really hold in the humidity, and that my cigars

ended up being overly damp - hard to smoke.

My suggestions would be first - do not add water to the supplied humidifier (if there

is one). You will end up with soggy sticks.

Second - use some kind of dessicant - either 65% beads in a tube, or crystal cat

litter in a tube (no added water to either).

You should be good to go. You can find these boxes at any number of online sites

I know of one site that has a ten count - single layer ten across, nice and flat - for

U.S. $9.95 +shipping. I have one, and it's my favorite. It does not take up excess

room in a backpack or other carry on.

Do a search for 10 count plastic travel humidor. If we get the OK, I'll post the site

URL.

Sorry for the lengthy post. Good luck and safe travels!

Very sound advice, I made the mistake of putting water in the "puck" that came in mine....bad move. I bought a tube of the crystals and put it in there to regulate.

Not to be confused with "The Puck Humidifier" I hope ;-)

Cohiba, shoot me an email and I can hook you up with the 5540 for $54.99

Hope this helps!

I've found that the boveda paks last forever in the otterbox...no probs with overhumidification. In fact, every stick I've smoked that has spent significant time in the otterbox has burned like a champ!

I have a Csonka Smoker Cloaker that I use regularly, with good results. I do, however, keep a window open when I smoke. I think I got it from cigarsinternational.com.

Good to hear from you mate :-)

It seems like an age ago since we caught up in Vegas.

It is indeed comforting to know that others out there have the same work ethic as I do :lookaround:
