There was a suggestion on the forum (not sure which posting so have started another) that the wrappers for the new Magnum 50's were just normal and not aged for two years. Checked with one of my mates in Havana and this is his response. Actually it is only part of his response. I cut out the really rude bits. The inference was that they were not chuffed to think that anyone could ever question what they do with these. Not touching that.

“All the limited editions cigars are dressed up with a two year aged wrapper minimum. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be considered limited editions. Even if we would have a shortage of excellent quality, two years aged wrapper we are not capable to use any other wrapper for those exclusive cigars. We have to be crazy to do such a nonsense. I mean, how someone could suppose we would do it that way? The wrapper used for Magnum 46 is a standard good quality wrapper grown in the heart of San Juan y Martínez and it comes from any level in the plant but the top. The top leaves (named Corona for its higher position) are the dark ones, the ones that confer that brown usually seen in Limited Editions. It’s another distinctive feature of the Limited Editions.”
