SmokinLightning Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Looking at a couple watches for my wife for Xmas, and since I know nothing about watches was hoping for some opinions.... Can anyone help point me in the right direction for getting the best deal on quality watches??? Thanks!
Jimmy2 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 SmokinLightning nice truck i also own one and love it a 2001 Silver. It went 12:89 1/4 run not to bad for a 4500 pound truck. Talk to Rob he is also an Oris Retailer watch dealer . Bought a very nice Oris Chrono from him he won't steer you wrong.
SmokinLightning Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 I actually traded in the Lightning a while back... basic bolt ons I think my best run was a 12.96 @ 106 (on DR's). I miss it...
SmokinLightning Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 Your boyfriend might like that watch, but it's a little too butch for my wife... :-P
Jimmy2 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Oris are classy watches top notch and it won't kill you in $$$$ dept.
SmokinLightning Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 » Oris are classy watches top notch and it won't kill you in $$$$ dept. Nice watches, some there I would like for myself... but nothing that really fits her tastes. She likes bi-color (silver/gold), rectangular shaped watches...

bassman Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I use an 1897 Elgin pocket watch. Still keeping perfect time.
Van55 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 If you are buying on line, I've had successful transactions with www.worldofwatches.com and www.discountwatchstore.com. I'm not an expert on brands of watches, but there are forums out there with more information than you could possibly want to know. Check out www.timezone.com or www.watchfinder.com Good luck!
Cam Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Hey yeah I deal in Swiss watches, may I reccomend an Omega Constellation, a Rado or If you have some extra cash go for a small Patek Phillipe or Rolex Datejust, mini, just give me a message or an email, I'll help you out if you haven't already got one, I get them at wholesale prices Or check with Rob, he has some awesome watches, and Oris is a great watch, good collecibility value as well. jseeds Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I count watches as another one of my obsessions, and would recommend checking out the criminally overlooked German brands - Sinn, Stowa, Damasko, Archimede, Limes, Muhle Glashutte, etc... There are some great forums at watchuseek.com... Check them out
SmokinLightning Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 Thanks for all the replies... I ended up going with a Raymond Weil, hope she likes it!
