Jimmy2 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I only smoked one and it was a while ago so i don't really remember how its was. Would like to get a little feed back on this stick . Can you say its in the top 3 of its size range as far as complex flavor..
shrink Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Can you say its in the top 3 of its size range as far as complex flavor.. Jimmy... I wouldn't describe the Fundadore as an especially complex cigar, but when it's "on" its hard to beat. Lots of experienced habanophiles cite the Fundy as their favorite cigar. Creamy and sweet, with notes of caramel and vanilla. The last '97 I had was like smoking a creme brulee. BTW, some early '06s I got recently are pretty good, and you can enjoy 'em now if you're so inclined.
Jimmy2 Posted November 20, 2006 Author Posted November 20, 2006 shrink what are your favorite 3 in this size range as i have been smoking smaller ring cigars and i have seen they offer more flavor than the larger ring gauges.

In my top 3. Really brings out the flavor if you have time to smoke it slowly, which is a problem for me now that winter has started.:-( I'd love to try some with some age on them.

Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No.1 ('98s if you can get 'em; '03s if you can't) Cohiba Lancero ('01s) vs. Trinidad Fundadore ('97s-'98s; '06s are quite good) Montecristo Especial No.1 ('97s-'98s; '06s are very good, too)

Shrink, all of your recommendations so far have been great, I had always heard of the Fundadores as a cigar that would require long term aging. Temptation...
BigSlick Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I did a review awhile back comparing a 98 to an 06. Linky below with pics. :-) Fundis are the Rolls Royce of cigars IMO. [link=http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum_entry.php?id=34806]ClickyThingy[/link]

Bill... a year ago that would have been gospel. But '06 is breaking many of the old rules, or is at least bending them. A serious revolution is underway, and many haven't yet caught on. Read BigSlick's review of the '98 vs. '06 Fundies. His observations parallel mine. '06 rules!
