Ken Gargett Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 am i the only rugby fan in australia that thinks it is complete idiocy letting this bloke near a field? is there any chance that he could be convinced to return to league now, before he costs us another world cup (and if you disagree with that, have a look at the last 20 minutes of the final and all the mistakes he made under pressure). he was full of mistakes again last night, as usual. granted, he does some exciting things but i'd rather win than enjoy a moment of skill now and again. had, and i have mentioned this on a post elsewhere as i really now believe it, australia's greatest ever fullback - chris latham - been playing that night as he should have been (and i know that certain high profile wallabies agree with this), jonny might never have ruined the event. just letting off steam.
Trevor2118 Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Ken, have another Appleton rum, & yes, I agree!.

Mat Rogers cost us the last world cup. It was a natural League response to kick the ball out of play under pressure with the clock winding down. This however turned it over in good field position for the poms to then have a shot at field goal and win the world cup. I will never forget that play as long as I live. besides that I actually rate him!
Ken Gargett Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 agree entirely. but he also made quite a few other mistakes in that game, especially near the end. that despised field goal still seems like slow motion. i was up and gone while it was still in the air. ran into a former famous wallaby prop as i bolted outside - had never met him before - he just looked at me, we both shook our heads and he said, i am going home for a shower.
