Currently on a 2003 LE nostalgia kick.

this had a lovely smell when cold, a bit like that favourite old pair of boots that you love and everyone else hates. when lit, it was much more earthy and raw and quite richly flavoured. these flavours continued to build throughout the life of the smoke and by the finish, it was becoming pretty powerful. there were hints of old leather and roasted meats and a hint of caramel hidden away that poked itself out very briefly now and then but it was the earthiness that dominated. one of the positives was that it had a noticably cool burn. reasonable construction though a couple of small hiccups needing it to be fired up again.

enjoyable now but i think i jumped the gun and that it might be a few notches up in a few years. 89.

anyone else seen one lately?

After the Piramides, my favorite Partagas EL. These are starting to come around nicely and will only get better.

Ken,

i would not rate them as in the top 4 of LE's that have been released but they are not far from it. A little rough for my liking

1. Cohiba DC....by a country mile.

2. Monte Robusto (original)

3. HDM Pirimide

4. Partagas Serie D No 3 (original)

the horror of it but i do think i agree. i do not think that they rank with the best of the LE's. can't comment re the partagas as ages since i have looked at one, and quite a while since i had one of the monte's as well but i remember them fondly. very much agree re the cohiba and hoyo and would certainly add the partagas pyramide from the first release.

I did spark one of these a few weeks ago to chart their progress and was very pleasantly surprised at how much better they were than a year ago.It was a very good smoke,a little milder than I expected, with less pepper than I was anticipating, but very well balanced for still being on the young side... I do believe you are right when you say that they still have a bit of settling to do,but once they are there,I'm going to be one happy dude!:-D

I'm also getting curious about my SD #1's,they've been buried...it might be time to see how they are doing.;-)
