Ken Gargett Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 watching this classic again, with the hoyo LE pyramide, i was struck by a few things that i didn't remember from previous viewings. hence, a small trivia quiz to see if others have better memories. i'm sure rob will kindly donate a suitable prize. 1. which actors had their names appear before the title, in the opening credits, and more importantly, in what order? you've probably twigged that i was surprised by this, hence the question. 2. who utters the immortally appalling line, 'we deal in lead, friend'. 3. not that i watched more than the opening credits but the sequel screened after the 'mag 7'. what was the name of the sequel? 4. how many of the seven reprised their roles? 5. who was the major star in it? 6. and for the bonus round, who received second billing in the opening credits in thee sequel? (and if you know that without research, you are hereby dubbed 'trivia king of the world').

Well Ken, I saw both films, but I scored 0 out of 6, so I'm hoping there is a prize for last. :-D
Jimmy2 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 1)Yul Brynner Eli Wallach Steve McQueen Charles Bronson Robert Vaughn Brad Dexter James Coburn 2)Robert Vaughn 3)Return Of The Magnificent Seven 4)1/Yul Brynner/Return Of The Magnificent Seven 5)Yul Brynner 6)Robert Fuller /Return Of The Magnificent Seven
Ken Gargett Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 jimmy, good effort but technically, although close on one of them, i was about to give you 0/6 when i discovered that hollywood made two sequels. i think you are spot on with the 'return of the mag 7' so this has stuffed my quiz. the 2nd, and surely completely unnecessary, sequel was the much forgotten 'mag 7 ride' starring lee van cleef with the second billing going to stefanie powers. i reckon that was a tough question. re the questions for the original, we are still to get correct answers.
Jimmy2 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Damm i tried.. You sure #2 is not right ? Also on your 6 question Ken you spelt ( thee sequel wrong) (should have been Third sequel) thats what scwered me up on that one..

Jimmy2 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I know # 2 now i messed up big time you know he is one of my Fav's actors ever...Won't say anyway .
El Presidente Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 » yes, my fault for stuffing up sequels (who would have ever thought that » Well done Ken. Love your work ;-)
Ken Gargett Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 jimmy, suspect you have it. the answers are that steve mcqueen uttered those words. was his agent on strike that day? the three actors that had their names appear before the film title were, in order, yul brunner, eli wallach and steve mcqueen. i was very surprised that eli wallach would get billing ahead of mcqueen. jimmy, you nailed all seven with the exception that wallach was the head of the bandits and the seventh was horst buchholz, apparently known at the time as the german james dean.

Eli Wallach as Calverra the Bandit jefe plays a great role. Remake of The Seven Samarai. Great show.
Mark Twain Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 "Remake of The Seven Samarai. Great show." A very good movie indeed.;-)
